Started this on another forum today, thought I'd do it here to...

OK, so I sat down in front of the TV for lunch. No Raceday, no NASCAR Now, no racing, nothing buut football. As much as I like football, it still doesn't come anywhere close for my love of Racing.

So, this winter, in this thread, I'm going to post a new picture regularly from some of the action I got to see over the summer up close and personal.

First up, super late model action at Potomac Speedway in MD. Kyle Lear and DJ Myers running side by side.

Nice red x. :)

Strange. Tried linking a file from it's location....Oh well, fixed it now.

Was this the Friday race or the Saturday race?

I remember TSF did a doubleheader weekend in Potomac. Jamie Lathroum dominated both races but, IIRC, axle problems were the cause of losing both races in the closing laps in both races. Booper Bare won the first race, DJ Myers won the second race.

This was the Friday night race that weekend.

This is one of my favorites. Langley Speedway lines up the cars on ppit road and the track between racing and qualifying, and allows all the fans to come down and look at the cars and talk to the drivers.

This little guy and his dad were headed back upstairs...I think the little guy liked what he saw.

Langley Speedway... great little short track!:beerbang::beerbang::beerbang:

VADirt is MIA, so I'll post one of his pics for him.

This was from the Hampton Heat 200. Capacity crowd of over 7,000 fans, great racing. CE Falk dominated the event but Woody Howard took the lead late to win.

The picture here is a picture of speedway veteran racer Shawn Balluzo's car with a special wrap with a bunch of photographs taken by fans and family of the track and his racing career over 25 years. Photo credit: VADirt

I thought this was a really cool car myself.

Thanks for posting the picture Andy. That was one neat wrap. Hard to really appreicate from up n the stands, but the detai up close was fantastic!

Been working late a couple days, so here's a new one. Two championship contenders going at it side-by-sdie at Williams Grove. This was taken during the Speed TV televised National Open.

I'd add this track to another that everyone needs to see at least once.

Looks like it would be hard to see on the track.

Todays Picture is from IRL qualifying at Richmond International Raceway. Cars are lined up right after qualifying, ready to be rolled back to the paddock.

Todays picture shows why JJ Yeley has so many fans. A minute before, that hat was on his own head. He took it off, signed it, and gave it to the boy in the picture.

Here's another pic I like rather than those boring car pictures...and this one is racey too. BTW, this is a pic of a girl that one of our members thinks is a guy!

First off, thanks Andy, again, for posting other racing pictures..

Second, this is not a December to remember. 12 and 13 hour days, losing sleep, losing weekends....whine, whine whine...

So anyway, here's todays shot. Limited stocks in action at Virgina Motor Speedway, the final night of the season. Here, track champion Brett Adkins takes a position from runner-up Wesley Givens.

This picture comes from the ARCA race at Rockingham Speedway back in April. Frank Kimmel holds off Parker Kligerman for position at the Carolina 200. Kenny Schrader dominated the race but ran out of gas with 3 to go handing the lead, and the win, to Sean Caisse.

I've decided to go back to 2008 for today's picture. This comes from the 2008 Loud Energy Drink 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The cars are lining up for practice.

Back on track after a long (and rotten) week at work.

Todays shots (two of them) focus on younger racers. While in Charlotte for the WoO Finals, I took a trip across the street to the big track. The WKA was running the infield for their season finale, and the bandeleros had an event they run for the kids every year.

In both shots, the kids are getting ready for the task at hand.

Today's picture is from real racing at Potomac Speedway. Kyle Lear (in the white car) passing Sommey Lacey during a heat race for the limited-hp late models at the high banked 3/8 mile bullring. Picture credit goes to James Antone of Ant-1Photography.com.

Today we get a look at two current NASCAR driver side-projects. Tony Stewart Racing's Levi Jones and Carl Edwards/RE Technologies' Josh Wise running in close quarters during the "James River Grounds 100" USAC Silver Crown Series race at Richmond International Raceway.

Unfortunately, no USAC or IRL are on the 2010 schedule for Richmond.

Today's shot comes from Winchester VA Speedway. A great little throwback track, everything about it takes you back to yesteryear. So for this post, I went with the vintage class that runs there from time to time.

So todays picture comes from this summer's Hampton Heat 200 NASCAR LMSC race at Langley Speedway. This race is young (the first was in 2008), but special for Langley, as the town of Hampton is fully behind the race in it's support.

This shot shows race winner Woody Howard (21) and runner-up C.E. Falk (40) in a thrilling side-by-side battle, which they waged for quite a few laps during the second half of the race, swapping the lead a dozen times.

Rain, rain rain. As I look outside this morning I see nothing but rain. 20 miles to the north and the west is getting the white stuff, here we're getting rain and minor coastal flooding.

So today's picture is of just that, rain. The worst enemy fans and promoters alike. This was Virginia Motor Speedway, site of the USA 100. A 10% change of rain that day, but right after qualifying, the sky opened up, and the track was lost. They tried to work the track back in, but by then it was so far gone it would have take overnight to make it raceable again.

The rain has cleared, the sun is shining...and there's a little snow on the ground. Time for more racing

This shot gives us Steve Kinser on a mission at Wiiliams Grove. Taken this fall during my first trip to the famed half-mile dirt track in PA.

Decided on another sprint car picture from Williams Grove for today. Slightly touched up with the lighting effect filter in Photoshop, this one of Donny Schatz actually pleased me a lot. Can't wait to get back to the track...

Since I've missed a couple days (Merry Christmas everyone, BTW), thought I'd pop a couple pictures up today. Both of these were shot during the World of Outlaws World Finals weekend at the dirt track.

A pair of champions, ready to roll...

Thought I'd post a couple of Virginia guys today. Local drivers Walker Arthur (87) and Brent Robinson (3) run together during hotlaps for the "Topless USA 100" at Virginia Motor Speedway. (and "topless" simply refers to the cars running with no roof....)

Back to the legendary Williams Grove. Finally made my way up there for the first time this year to see the National Open. Huge event, packed grandstands, grounds stuffed with campers and partiers. It's my understanding that this for this event, plenty of folks show up that don't even buy tickets, they just bring their RV or tent, and camp out. With the race live on Speed this year, the camping only crowd was huge. (and I think this guy might have been one of them...)
