No racing, no problem....picture thread

Happy New Year to everyone!

For my first picture of the new year, I go back to Langley Speedway back in July. Here we have legends cars running side by side. The 0 car of Steve Keesee takes a position on his way to a feature win.

Another day in the new year, another day closer to the Chili Bowl. If you've never been, you need to make it at least once. 5 nights of racing, some of the best open wheel racers in the country.

And aside from the great racing, you even get to see stuff like this...

Back the the Grove for another shot. This one is my desktop image as well. The full moon rises over the back stretch grandstands (named for the late Tommy Hinner****z)

And real race fans know what a full moon can mean.

Just three more days, and I'll be on my way to Tulsa for my fifth Chili Bowl. Aside from five days of great racing (four of which I'll be there for), there are so many other things to see. Especially on Saturday, when all the craziness comes out.

Take this for example. All I can say is....yup, it is.

Don't forget tomorrow night (Sunday 1/10/10) on the History Channel you can watch the Madhouse, modified competition/family feud at 10:00. Be there or be square. :beerbang:

The closer it gets, the better. The Chili Bowl Midget Nationals start this week, and I can't wait to get there.

Today's shot is of Sammy Swindell's controversial 2009 midget. The car was unbeatable, winning every race it ran, including the race of champions and his unprecedented 5th Chili Bowl crown.

Yet another Chili Bowl pic for today. Story. On the big grandstands, (the ones you see in the background) is a guy with a big sign that says "HEY" that rile up the crowd, and prompt them to yell "HEY" when the "hey guy" holds up his sign.

The front stretch has their own chant, and their own guy. And here he is, grass skirt and all, the "hey guy sucks" guy.

For my list 2009 picture, I have to post the Golden Driller. This is the site of the annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals at the QuikTrip Center in Tulsa, OK. 260+ cars will battle over the next 4 days, and I'm on my way.
