No September surprise with Matt Kenseth.

OK, maybe it's just me but is Joe Gibbs chair the only one levitating?

I have heard some great things about Jason and he did a good job in Nationwide . The great Zippy couldn't do anything with Joey. It will be interesting no matter who his crew chief is .

I think Zippy hurt Joey's career. I am not convinced that he is at the top of the game. I think Tony made him look good. And I don't see him helping Danica either.

As for Jason, I think a seasoned veteran like Matt is what he needs to make it in Cup.

I think every driving style needs a particular touch from the CC and the organization. I honestly believe that Kyle's hard driving style has dictated frames and thus suspensions that don't suit Joey. He and Brad have a very simular driving style, and I think that will get Joey in a good place to start over.

If you look back to 2010 at Penske, Kurt was getting new frames designed for him, while Brad raced his used frames (I note frames that Penske lists for each race, along with their history). In 2011, Brad started getting new frames designed for him, and his results improved greatly. Going back to 2009, Brad raced 12 times while being a test driver for HMS. He got a win, 4 T-10's and 6 T-15's. Then he switched to Penske frames and it took 34 races to get a single finish in the top 10.

I have wondered some about this, but I am not as sure you seem to be.
I am sure that working with Tony and Joey was almost 180 degrees apart. I am not just thinking of the performance difference, with Joey it had to feel like he was working with a kid after his experience with Tony.

But most times I think Zippy is highly respected among his peers, and I do have more faith in his abilities than Joeys. Maybe it was a chemistry problem, and I do think Gibbs should have made a CC change more quickly.
