Note to Sam Curry

Sam, we need to figure out a way to stop the spamming. I'm sure we aren't the only ones that are being infected with this crap, but it seems that it's more and more common these days and is getting worse. Is there a way that we could possibly block a new user for one day before they could post? For those who really are fans and want to participate, one day might not be too much, but for a spammer, it might just prevent him from posting his crap. Just a thought.

Buckster, please know that Sam and Admin (as well as Mods) are aware of the "termites" trying to eat us up with spam.
We sure appreciate it when great members report posts that don't fit in here, and dump the offenders ASAP.
We all thank you, and please keep up the good work!

buckaroo, right now about the only thing i can do is cut off potential new members from joining. Which is something that we really dont want to do. The mods and other admin are working like crazy to find them and ban them as quick as we can, but with the new spammer tech stoping it from email we figured it would endup on forums.
I will check out the mods that are becoming available for vB and see if there is something i can install when it becomes available.

is IP address banning not working or are the spammers using dynamic IP's? You could at least do a general (but dangerous) ban, using something like 63.***.**.*** (but don't use that one, i'd like to still be able to post on here you know!)

hehe i have tried that already but they are dynamic and spoofed.

I guess this is just something that we're going to have to put up with until something can be found to prevent them from joining.
