Oh, boy, Roush is on the warpath

Also - (@ work and had a customer walk in :))

I would guess when they're ripping these cars apart, this happens maybe not 'frequently', but it happens. I would also guess this is why there wasn't a huge stink created by Jack or NASCAR regarding the issue.

I think this is really a non-issue, and it's just Jack wanting to get some spotlight on Toyota for calling them out on the oil tank deal. Tit-for-tat, and all that.

Allegedly stolen. It appears to be stolen. But at this point, who stole it remains unknown. It's just one man pointing fingers.

I think that's a very important point. "Alleged", by one guy so far :)

My Grandfather anything he couldn't find he thought someone stole it. Don't matter that it was broken and he laid it up somewhere and forgot where SOMEONE STOLE IT.

So today Roush announced that it was a sway bar that was allegedly stolen by the Toyota team. The "theft" that occurred actually didn't happen this season. The part went missing last year at the fall race in Dover. If that truely is the case, then it was either a Michael Waltrip Racing team or a Red Bull Racing team.

I honestly think that all of the trouble Roush is bringing up is because of his disdain for Toyota and the comments made by Toyota officials after Carl Edward's cheating in Las Vegas.

A whole lotta nothin from what I can tell. Mikey admitted his team ended up with it. From the reactions I heard from Pemberton and Jeff Gordon, Jack Roush is whining a tad too much. Seems this thing intentional or not happens all the time.

Dave Moody, on Sirius Speedway, said that the team tried to get an outside manufacturer to make a copy of the part. If all these allegations end up being true, what kind of legal action should Roush take and should NASCAR take any action, even though it has stated it will stay out of this quibble between teams?

Laughter is the best medicine

by Joe Menzer, NASCAR.COM

Let us now bring in the judge. He goes by the name of Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet of Hendrick Motorsports. So he doesn't have a dog in the hunt. He's not in the Ford camp, nor from the Toyota side.

And he can't stop laughing.

"I think the whole thing is just hilarious. I think it's a great story," Gordon said. "Certainly we've been talking about it. I'm sure it's making for some good entertainment around the garage area and in the media center. But I really hope Jack is not taking it that seriously, because he shouldn't. It really is something to smile about.

"If he's really that upset about it, I want to know what's going on with that swaybar, man. Maybe there's something that we're missing that has to do with how fast their cars are. A lot of us have a little bit different of a design on the swaybars. Once you start getting into the really big swaybars, trying to figure out how to lighten 'em up is definitely important. I don't know. Maybe they figured out something on that design that they didn't want to get out of their garage. But then I guess you shouldn't leave it laying around where somebody can grab it."

Gordon went on to say that he talked to his crew members about how parts sometimes inadvertently end up in the wrong hands -- and ultimately places -- after the chaos of a post-race teardown.

"They said you'd be surprised," Gordon said. "You're cleaning up and in post-race inspection, stuff gets left laying around. You can take it, you can not take it. You can tell a NASCAR official it's just laying here or whatever. It happens all the time. I think if no one claims it, I think it's kind of yours. The difference here is that Roush wanted it back. Well, he got it back."

When pressed for how he really thought, though, Gordon admitted he had another thought.

"I think we should investigate more. I think we should get the FBI involved," Gordon said.

He was laughing as he said it.

Roush needs to laugh a little more, too, and worry a little less about intellectual espionage, setting up clandestine meetings, and restraining orders. Then and only then will he be able to concentrate on the really important things, like optimizing the torsional effect on his racecars.

Just don't let your kids catch it.

I personally find the story more interesting than listening to Jeff Gordon on Trackside talk about changing diapers. I guess maybe he's the only one to ever do that

Maybe we should just keep all this on the back burner for the next time some Nascar team owner starts crying about something or other.

I know I'm not going to forget it - trust me ;)

Waltrip: Our team took Roush Fenway part by 'mistake'

Roush claims sway bar stolen by a Toyota team last year

TRD's White: We had nothing to do with missing Roush Fenway part

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Michael Waltrip confirmed Friday afternoon that it was his team that Jack Roush was alluding to when saying a Toyota team had stolen a sway bar from Roush Fenway Racing at Dover last September.

“It was a mistake,” Waltrip said. “Look at the back of these toolboxes. There are sway bars, there’s jack handles, and it wound up in our possession. We called them and said, ‘We want to give this back.’ ”

Earlier in the day, Hendrick Motorsports driver Jeff Gordon said the issue is “good entertainment” and that he hopes that Roush isn’t taking it too seriously. He said if Roush is really upset then Gordon wants to know “what’s going on with that sway bar. Maybe there’s something that we’re missing that really truly is contributing to how fast their cars are going.”

Waltrip referred to Gordon’s comments on the issue and indicated that Gordon was more unbiased than Waltrip himself could be from the inside.

“I would like for Jeff Gordon to be our spokesman on this one,” Waltrip said. “I think he summed it up really well.”

I'm with Jeff on this one. And really with Jeff on what's with the sway bar that makes it so special.

Me too TRL. Maybe Nascar should take the swaybar and see if it is legal and check it out.
