New crew for the #78 starting at Dover: After weeks of struggles, the #78 Furniture Row Racing pit crew is no more. FRR will use Richard Childress Racings #2 Nationwide Series pit crew starting this weekend at Dover International Speedway and for the foreseeable future. The team will retain its gasman Milan Rudanovic. FRR has a technical alliance with RCR. We had to make a change, driver Kurt Busch said. As a Chase team, you have to go up to bat each time looking to make contact, and our team had a lot of misses on pit road this year. Each position struggled. The chemistry among the group it was no one persons fault. As a team, they did not execute. So I talked to (FRR GM) Joe Garone about it and brought in (FRR team owner) Barney Visser and Richard Childress, and we all came to the conclusion together.(FoxSports)(9-28-2013)

So Kurt was the one that instigated the team change. So much for live and die as a team.

So much for people here saying he's such a teddy bear. bull****.

His crew had been a problem all year long and he suddenly now realizes, 3 races into the chase that they need to be replace? Scumbag.

Kurt is gone after this year so why even bother to make the change this late? He's not going to win the chase so this change is now pointless. This really pisses me off.

I saw Allenbaba (tire changer for the 78 team) say he was done on a thread yesterday because he had to leave for Dover.

Looks like he didn't need to rush off after all.

Ouch.

Sucks for him because he has always defended Kurt here. It'd be interesting to see what he has to say if indeed he's one of many that got axed.

But I think I remember him saying that he would continue to work with Kurt after he's gone so maybe he'll go work for SHR along with Kurt.

A tiger cant change its stripes however. Kurt is and will always be a selve serving douchebag.

Wow , all of a sudden it's Kurt's fault that his pit crew have been having poor pit stops and losing him positions .

Wow, really? I mean, I understand why they made this change, but the timing could not have been worse. I could see it if Kurt had planned to stay at FRR, but as reck said, with him leaving at the end of the season and the fact that we're already 3 races into the Chase, it makes no sense. Too little, too late. Granted, I was one of the ones that said that Kurt needed a better pit crew if he was going to stay at FRR, and I'm not gonna backpedal from that now, but obviously on a human level, I feel for those guys.

And I didn't know Allenbaba was on the 78 pit crew. I thought he was the PR guy or something. Regardless, yeah, I would love to hear his take on all this.

Would lol if Kurt
And I didn't know Allenbaba was on the 78 pit crew. I thought he was the PR guy or something..

Actually, I don't know either. I just figured he was from the things he's said, and the fact he has "Tire changer" under his avatar.

Lmao. Kurt got the #78 in the Chase. The crew hurt those Chase chances, not helped.

If I under perform at my job, I'm getting fired too. And if you think theu don't under perform, you don't watch the races.

If Kurt and Kurt alone got that car in the chase, why does he need a pit crew?

You're both right.

Let's not forget Kurt has gotten his fair share of speeding penalties too. No doubt, he's driven his butt off this year, but he has made mistakes at times as well. Kurt may be the MVP of the team, but it's still a team effort at the end of the day.

I feel bad for those guys but at the same time I can understand it. It is the chase.
I am tempted to listen to Kurt's radio tommorow, If this new crew screws up it will be fun to listen to.

And...it's the same as any other team sport; if you have players that are underperforming, you pull them out of the game.

If you have a player that isn't performing, you build him up and motivate him. Tell him how important he is and then recognize his short comings. Help him thru his shortcomings.

If you beat him down in front of his team mates, you damage the entire TEAM...

This is going to be a very bad decision for Kurt.

You do that in the off-season, not in the middle of the game.

Kurt gets 2 pit road penalties tomorrow via driver error. lol

Wouldn't that be sweet karma.

I dont think anybody is argueing the fact that crew sucks but the fact Kurt waited this late in the game to make the change? Why?

Was he looking to flex his "muscle" and show he still has power on that team or what? Kurt is on an ego trip. He has nothing to lose so why not screw his whole team as a farewell bit.

Its down right pathetic.

I don't think Kurt is on an ego trip at all. I think he is just trying to make that team the best it can be and that means fixing weak spots on the team. I thought they were talking about making some pit crew changes a few weeks ago.

The FRR crew isn't up to the task of winning a championship, and we've known this for basically the entire season. However, I think the change should have come before the Chase, considering he's pretty much out of contention at this point.

Kurt is a competitor. He will do whatever is necessary to win. His pit crew was not up to competitive standards, so away they go. Hope all the best for Kurt in 2013 and the future. He deserves it.

So what you're saying is that someone like Gordon is not a competitor and wont do what needs to be done to win?

The 24 crew has been as bad if not worst than the 78 crew.

A justifiable change this late is only good if you're second, or third in the standings while having a healthy shot at the cup. Kurt got neither.

Chad did it. Why not? It's just up to Alan

The better you finish in The Chase, the more $$ you collect ;)
Sure, he's 40 points out of 1st but he's only 4 points out of 4th and there are 8 races left. Plenty of time to move up a few positions.

I don't blame Busch for wanting to better his team and increase his chances of winning. The only thing he did wrong was waiting until now to do it.

Of course there are no guarantees that this bunch will do any better than the previous crew.

If he wins at Dover Kurt is gonna ride a high all the way to Daytona

Don't forget ....Kurt is the new Ricky Bobby..... And one of the firesuits said "Me". Pretty much sums it all up doesn't it?...
