I never did see this... http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-02-23/brian-france-on-steering-nascar-to-a-tv-deal

**** us all.

In any family business, you want to make your mark. If you’re just going to drive the ship as it was before, then you’re probably the wrong person for the job.
**** you. Instead of trying to implement all of this off-the-wall crap to create your own legacy, you should have just respected what your father and grandfather did and tried not to **** it up. Ironically enough, your legacy is now going to be that of a major ******.

That Brian France is a real hoot !!!!! hard to believe he runs Nascar

Who wants to bet that after Brian France steps down, NASCAR will be going publicly traded so that they can fire and hire CEOs?

I don't understand this comment. A privately-held company can fire and hire CEOs too.

Well thars your problem then.
You're assuming that a CEO who answers to public shareholders would do a better job of standing by the fans.

The institutional investors on Wall Street expect a publicly-traded company's profits to go up by at least 15% every year. A CEO installed via public shareholders would first answer to the shareholders and then to the fans. It would probably be the same or worse.

If Brian abdicates the throne, Bruton Smith would be the next in line for the crown. So do you really want him to go?

If I had my way, Humpy Wheeler would run the show. If that failed I would elect myself :p

Sad to see a CEO manage a product that he doesn't seem to believe in, especially one I love.

There has to be a belief in the product, especially racing and the deterioration is apparent. To run racing right you have to be able to accept some lemons or runways. No ability to allow it to materialize, dooms us to the yellow fever.

There was a day when tire management meant so much more and a savy vetern driver could come out of nowhere late in the runs.

To be fair it still happens some, Kenseth himself was the 2013 evidence. But it is less classical today, more about cautions resetting the field. Were hiring the best crew is as important as the drivers mastery of the competition.

Like Brian it seems more artificial or plastic, then watching it happen when green or on the track.

I thought it was a factual story. It said three things: Brian France consolidated the TV package; the breakdown is 65 percent to the tracks, 25 percent to the drivers, and 10 percent to Nascar; and why he can't see the sport like a fan.

Well, unless you actually are Brian France or Brian has your private phone number then the media would/should be the first to know. That's their job and that's how us normal folk get the news. I can't say that you've, err, Brian have actually contacted me personally to break the news.

That's so the media can have a chance to beat into our heads what a great idea this is before we can form our own opinions (although many of us already have).

Oh, how we will bitch and complain...and then we will fire that tv up and watch nascar until our eyes strain.:D

But if this keeps up maybe not as much as before. And to any of you tempted to say I'm not a real fan I have been as passionate about stock car racing and nascar in particular as one can get for over 60 years.

Anyone that has been on racing forums for very long should know that.;)

Don't you know, anyone who doesn't like the current product isn't a real fan. Nevermind that some of us go to short track races every single week - sometimes two or three times a week. If we don't think the current product where "stock cars" race on superspeedways built for open wheel cars is exciting - we're not "real fans".

Where did you get that idea at? I doubt that anyone would be on here for very long if they were not a fan. But, fan or not, you will still be watching, and i will still be watching you whine about it. It's all good.:D

Nitro there are a few that aren't fans that come on here just to try and piss people off. There are a few of these on every forum but thank goodness TRL and the other powers that be keep'em in line.

Yep, she does a pretty good job. No matter which points sytem they choose, i'm ready for some racing.;)

Moejoe posted that quote some time ago, and I couldn't believe my eyes. It does explain SOME of his ineptness in ruining....errr...running the sport. He sure is inept at ruining it.

Check the ratings. Fewer and fewer people are doing that.
Yep, it's that way in just about all motorsports. But, im going out on a limb and say that most of us on this forum will still be tuned in this year no matter what points system they use. But, if we all do decide to stop watching, and Nascar goes belly up, then i will know that i was wrong. That being said, i'm still planning on watching Nascar until either it or i are no longer around.;)

No one decides for me what I am or am not a fan of and their opinions are exactly that - theirs. What 'they' perceive to be true facts has no bearing on me.

If any ONE person thinks that they're only true fan of anything, how about allowing that ONE person to fully support a sport completely, by themselves, if they're such better fans than the rest.

**** 'em, is what I say :)

I agree. But, i don't know how this thread turned into a discussion about who thinks they are a better fan then anyone else.
