Ok, what'da ya do during the down time?

My wife had major surgery a week before the forum crashed. We were on pins and needles until last Tuesday when we received great news at the oncologist's office. The pathologist report says they got all the cancer, She's cancer free!!!!! No chemo but will be getting follow ups every 3 months for a while.

The boys turned two. WOW. what a party they had. Grampy went nuts,,again.

The kids put an offer in on a house which was rejected, then there was a counter offer which they rejected. Then just like Ebay a ''Buy it now'' and they did. Instead of 24 miles away the boys will now be just over 2.

Grampy's boys have bought their Mommy a new washer & dryer for their new home for Mommy's day. 2 year olds go through clothes really quick.

That's about it.
 
Found it a few days ago, read but didn't sign up. Saw your post about the tow truck driver.

I really missed the forum members as there are some top notch people here I really like chatting and interacting with. I knew the forum would be back and absence did make the heart grow fonder so all is well that ends well.

During the downtime I tried to learn more about computers and computing and even though I only know a little it was a lot more than I knew before.

When I went to sign in my password was not accepted so I requested a new one but had no luck so I figured I had better sign up again. I see my original Skoalbandit33 is still around but for now I am Skoal_Bandit33 and if I can get my old stuff back then that is fine and if not that is OK too. Just so everyone knows I am not trying to pull a fast one and have 2 names or anything like that.
 
Not much really. I checked for the board everyday. I really really missed it.


Things have been rough here. I am still grieving over my Mom.
 
I read all the comments on Fear and TWD FB pages 10 times every day.
 
I was super busy because I run 4 games on another site BUT their main page was down, spooky huh, but most of my players still got to the game pages
 
Annoyed the crap outta the folks at another board I frequent and checked here frequently. I think they were glad when this board came back on.

Honestly, I was pretty bored. I had the flu for a few days, I played boring video games, listened to music, and spent way too much time on YouTube watching bad drivers/road rage and BuzzFeed videos. Ha ha.
 
Well, let's see :rolleyes: drove to NC from Florida. Arrived in Raleigh and two days later bought a 6 X 12 foot enclosed trailer, loaded it and my Dakota with John Deere lawn tractors and related parts and manuals headed to Watsonville, PA for PA Plow Days Friday and Saturday last week. Sold some of the stuff, then drove to New Jersey to see my son and meet with a contractor rebuilding our property that burned on January 5th before starting the return leg to Raleigh Sunday afternoon.

Once the eagle (that's me) landed, my daughter called to tell me that my favorite singer had died. Yep! Ole Merle Haggard is gone and with only Willie left, who's gonna fill their shoes? DAMN! But I feel bad about losing Merle. Merle and I traveled a lot of miles with me singing in accompaniment to his cassettes when they were the only thing available and later to his cd's.
Anyway, unloaded stuff I did not sell and sat right down to list some on Craig's List, some on a tractor forum and some on eBay before my social director informed me we had to prepare the house for sale. :oops:
So my time from from April 5th when we departed Florida until today, has been filled with physical and mental exercises. :cool:

Sorting out old things from my glory days as a county freeholder (known as commissioner in most states) and photos of my glory days chasing NASCAR from coast to coast, photos and memorabilia from my days as a "yout" (see: My Cousin Vinnie) and heavy winter clothing, Carharts, insulated boots, and photos of family, mementos from days at Texas A&M, just about anything a person accumulates in 79 + years and now, rather than leave this task for my Bride or children to do should I meet my maker sooner than expected. My plan is to live to be 100 and fulfill my bucket list of things to do, places to go and people to see.

Now, that being said does not mean I haven't tried daily, sometimes two or three times a day, to see if R-F was up and running. After all, where else can one go to find a place where we police ourselves and have such stimulating discussions as are regularly engaged in here? I missed it and funny to say, but even missed some of the posters. Not the trolls, but the ones who take graciously and give in rejoinder. Sorta like having a family on the internet. :D

The long and short of it is, glad to be back. Glad to see most everyone else is back. A true testament to the viability of this website.
 
I did the same things I do when the forum was up before the crash, I did add checking everyday, sometimes hourly to see if this place was back up, started stalking Fury on twitter as well. Got sick, watched the NASCAR races, then got sad because I had no place to go to about the race's , had to see a shrink because the depression got to me than I could handle , (of course I am kidding about the shrink and the depression part)

I had to jump start my car one day to run some errands, hadnt driven it in awhile since I was driving another vehicle thats been parked in my driveway, you dont know exciting tell you have to push a car out of a garage that has sloping driveway by yourself so you can jump start it.

Wow have I rambled on, feel sorry for anyone that reads that................:lol2:

I can relate about Merle, Whizzer. Merle's music played a really big part in a really rough part of my life years ago and I listened to him quite a bit over the years and I was always grateful for the help he gave a guy he never knew. It kind of annoyed me when he died and nobody really made a big deal out of it and then Prince died and people acted like it was the end of the world or something. I guess there's no accounting for taste. It seems to me that Merle was just as big a legend in his genre as Prince was in his, but it is what it is. Those of us that experienced Merle, Willie, Waylon, and some of those other guys got something out of it that many wouldn't understand anyway, I guess.
 
As to what I did, I spent some time worrying about my brother, Don, who tried to scare the crap out of us by having a couple of heart attacks in a two week period. The second one was while he was undergoing dialysis at the hospital. He also has Multiple Myeloma (a blood cancer), so he's not in good shape all over. He spent several days in Critical Care after the second one and it didn't look like he was gonna make it, but he's just stubborn enough to do so. He's out now and went out to dinner with his wife for his 61st birthday Thursday night.

I also spent quite a bit of time car shopping for my wife before we landed on a 2007 Ford Focus. I hate car shopping. I used to love it when I was younger.

I feel your pain. My wife is fed up with this Messican Motors furd built by Pancho and Lefty. 2013 fusion SE, 17,000 miles and has 2 recalls for door latches and power steering bolts "just drive careful, we'll get to you''. Plus trim that constantly falls off
