One Less Start and Park to Bitch About

Don't argue with bumperhead, he will drag you down to his level and beat you with stupidity every time. He doesn't know the economics of the sport, thinks every team has millions and can hire the best drivers, doesn't know squat about sponsorship or lack of.

No. I'm saying I think Terry Labonte will still start and park.
what if he does. you going to cry crocodile tears and do your little bitch twist up or what. I think he will run the whole race now that they have more money to buy tires and parts, that is why you want an older semi retired driver that doesn't overdrive the equipment if you don't have the money to replace it...get it. They hung on for three years and now they have a better sponsor and more funds to race, they might keep Labonte and Schrader, or get a different drivers, who knows, they got a three year deal, didn't say how much money the sponsor was kicking in.

I know that you won't be diappointed in their finishes ,they likely will be poor. The sponsor is not exactly a fortune 500 company ,and they are virtually starting from scratch . But I like Frankie Stoddart and I was always a LaBonte fan , so I for one will be pulling for them.
That does explain alot.In why you think every NASCAR race is a good one.

I have a buddy in the seniors home . You would love him . He's a bit of a golf nut . Loves Tiger Woods . But he doesn't like the 4th , 8th and tenth holes .;)

Probably would.I love talking to the older people. Not much for golf.So I guess you have to explain the holes?

I'm still uncomfortable with my last memories of LaBonte in a race car will be much like watching a valet at a restaurant.

Not to sound skeptical but I don't see anything that says they WON'T start and park. Also, isn't Terry the only driver who does start and park in that car?
They've run 757 out of 783 laps so far this season. Terry finished on the lead lap in three of the four races he ran last year.

Just calling it like I see it.They do have a sponsor for this year and the next 2?So not underfunded.Terry is just wasting a spot for a young driver to be able to show his skills? It just gets me how people act like Terry is really going to race "this time" because they got a sponsor? The only place he will finish anywhere but the back will be a RP or road coarse.Even a blind squirrel will find a nut at a RP race.
Terry's only running the four plate races and Bristol this weekend. Kenny is scheduled to run nine races and ROTY candidate Timmy Hill is going to run 18-20 races.

Maybe Nascar needs a Senior League, kinda like golf, with these soft walls and other safety innovations the drivers seem to be racing longer.

I have no problem with lower funded teams, but lets get a driver who has had success in cup this century.

Texas Terry needs to retire. I hate to see a once-great driver struggle around the track. Ill always remember him for this days at Hendrick in the #5 Kelloggs car.

It's a right they have earned . DW did it , Rusty did it ,Richard Petty did it and a lot more . There are others besides the Labontes ' out there doing it . But the sponsors love the big names . And the owners can't even race without a sponsor. Don't worry , next season there will be a line up of free agents for that ride and a tough decision will have to be made.

I'll give you Petty and even DW, but I don't recall Rusty ever just "limping around the track." He was competitive his final year, finishing 8th. He was 3rd in the standings when the Chase started. He had a couple bad years in '03 and '04, but he still finished top 20.

I always wondered when Earnhardt would have retired had he not been killed. He was still a title threat up until his last days.

Don't bring facts into this.

Rusty won 1 race in his last 4 years . Some folks thought he was in pretty good equipment .

So top 10 in points is just limping around if you aren't winning races? I dunno, not arguing about it, it just seems ridiculous to me to include him in with Petty, DW, and the Labontes towards the end of his career. Unlike them, he was still finishing towards the front.

I believe it was DW who said Earnhardt had neck surgery and told him he was feeling better than he had in years and felt he could win the title. That was in 2001.

Wouldn't it be cool to have a Seniors NASCAR division,........... I would probably like it more than this whine alot group we watch nowadays. Haha Terry battling it out with Mark and a cameo group of the kind like Buddy and Cale :D All short tracks and 5-600 HP limit.

Welcome to the forum Quackjack , looks that way . What do you think ? I would imagine there will be a lot of free agents lobbying for the ride next year.
I suspect the team will continue rotating drivers as they have in the past.

Kenny and Terry both run complete races. When the team is going to S&P, they usually put someone else in.
Terry is just wasting a spot for a young driver to be able to show his skills.
Remember, the big advantage with Terry is that Past Champion's provisional start, something a young driver lacks. It's the 'crawl, walk, run' principle. Get enough sponsorship to at least run the entire race, hopefully making enough money and drawing enough attention to pick up some associate sponsors and be able to make top 25s next year. Then go looking for an eager young shoe.

That's what the Trucks started as. I'd like to see Mark run one full Truck season.

If he ran a full Nationwide or Truck season, he'd win the title. I wonder if he's considering that next year -- possibly essentially swapping rides with Brian Vickers. Or going to run Trucks for KyBu.

Mark Martin would have as good a chance as any in cup if he raced the 55 full-time. He's like 7th in points right now. Freaking superman.

I think it'd be funny if he won a couple of pre-Chase races and finished in the Top 20 in points to be eligible for a Wild Card. Not very likely but I'd love to see it happen.

The 55 is consistently top 5 fastest off the truck. I totally see him winning a race or two

It's uncomfortable watching a once good driver limp around the track. I guess it's hard to know when to hang it up.

Actually ,back in the day , these guys were not only repected by the other racers but by the fans as well. Fans today only have time for the top ten.

i don't mind being in the minority with this subject. and maybe nascar isn't the place for this type of sentiment, but i love it when drivers past their prime show up at a race. take the time to go talk to them in the pits after a show. you might just become a new fan.
