It should come as no surprise that one of the best values on cable t.v. would be the local PBS channel. There are wonderful series, movies and documentaries for those who like quality television programming.
Subscription fees are per donation, which can be as little as $5.00 per month with automatic payment but that minimal amount of money will provide hour upon hour of fun and watchable television entertainment.
Many shows originate in the U.K., and some movies require sub-titles, but even some of the series programs require sub-titles. If you are not a fan of them, there is plenty to choose from but all in all, PBS is good watching.

Most people who live near a large or mid-size city should be able to pick up their local PBS station with an antenna.

Cable is not required for PBS unless you live far from a transmission tower, or live in an area where broadcast signals are obstructed.
