Here we are after only 3 races in the new season and I am already begging God to get TNT coverage here as fast as possible. Is it just me or is anyone else also getting worn down by Fox’s year after year mediocrity?

No more “Digger” at least, but 2 insufferable Waltrip brothers, Larry Mac’s constant yapping, Chris Meyers’ buffoonery, and the entire team’s constant ass-kissing of NASCAR and fawning over certain drivers such as JJ, Junior, Danica Patrick and Jeff Gordon. Mike Joy in my opinion is the only saving grace on that team but even he, who I used to think was one of the best in the business is starting to seem annoying to me, if only because of his association with the aforementioned others.

I am getting more tired of them with each passing year and can’t wait for TNT, ESPN and the last half of next year, NBC coverage. Thanks for letting me vent.

They fawn over Gordon? Really? I haven't seen that. But I agree on most of your points, although TNT has that other insufferable Wally.

DW has a love/hate thing with Gordon and Larry Mac is always ragging on him for being midpack or whatever.

I like watching Nascar racing so i wouldn't care if Charles Manson is the commentator.

That might actually be pretty interesting.

As far as FOX. **** them. I considered them a savior and a sign of a great future in 2001 and, like NASCAR, they have slowly degraded themselves to the sh!t we saw on the TV today. This coverage is better than no coverage but come on! The choice of camera view seems stupid most of the time, the NASCAR, Toyota, Danica knob slobber is extremely annoying.. The heads up display is jacked.. do not get me started on Boogity Boogity!

It's hard for me to defend the sport to friends and family who might be watching with me against the bull**** that's yelled at them through the television. I swear.

Anyways rant over.

All my friends think NASCAR is a joke and are always laughing at the fact I actually take time to watch these races. I want to defend NASCAR but its hard to disagree when the CEO of the sport doesn't give two flying **** about how the sport is viewed by the uneducated and I'm sure as hell not going to be a NASCAR spokesperson.

I've never been a big fan of Fox's coverage. Mike Joy is about the only decent one there, the rest are a bunch of goofballs who think they're funnier than they actually are. TNT's commentators are better, but their broadcasts are usually 60% commercials. ESPN is far and away the best we have right now, hopefully NBC will be too.

Back in the days when DW was a driver he was known as "Jaws". Always running off at the mouth about something when a microphone was shoved into his face. NOW he has one ALL the time and has brought his no talent brother with him, talk about somebody riding the coat tails of someone that could drive, but that's an entirely different subject. Mike Joy deserves a medal for putting up with everybody in that broadcast booth and in the "hotel". For a guy that got his feet wet doing weekly announcing at Stafford Speedway in CT, describing the very exciting Northeast Modifieds kudios for Mike Joy. As with all broadcasts now, money does all the talking and for some reason Fox Sports and corporate America think that the Waltrip brothers are cats _ss!!!

FOX seems the same as it always has to me. Never cared for their announcing team since they started. Someone out there must though, they keep having them sign contracts. Heck, they could broadcast the races on the Oprah Channel with the women from 'The View' announcing and I'd still be watching.

I have tried over the years to stay away from friends who keep running down my favorite sport. I do understand how hard it would be to defend it today. Their criticism was always that Nascar was a "near sport" like wrestling and roller derby . These sports have to constantly reinvent themselves chasing a wider audience . For a while , hockey was doing that too , when it tried to get into the American market , letting Fox tart it up with a glowing puck so viewers could see it. In order to be a mainstream sport , Nascar has to grow up , stop letting itself be tarted up by the tv networks , and stick with one identity .

It finally dawned on me yesterday what Fox does with their broadcasts. Instead of covering a race as it unfolds, they are doing a racing TV show with a race that just happens to take place while they're doing it. This is what happens when you take a director who's covered football and baseball and tell him to do racing.

One good thing they have done is they finally told DW and Larry to shut up when the winner is coming to the line and let Mike Joy call the finish. Look at all the highlights over the year of some of their great finishes they've had and hear all three announcers yelling on top of each other.

The coverage seems to be about the same as it has been. The Waltrips have the gift of gab but sometimes they say things that make me go What?

After the first TNT race last season there was a thread about how bad the coverage was, the same thing when ESPN started, and now we've gone full circle. I'm just happy to have coverage on a channel I get.

Odd , I felt the same thing at one point during the race . Can't remember where it was during the race that I picked up on it , but I've never noticed it before .

The choice of camera view seems stupid most of the time.......

I remember a few years ago at one of the plate races, Jr. had problems and was running a full half lap behind the entire rest of the pack, unable to catch up to them. Unbelievably, Fox kept the camera on Jr. alone for quite some time while the ENTIRE field of cars was running a full lap ahead! It was completely nuts!

Fox's coverage has been quite bad for a long time and it's gotten worse ever since Fox Sports 1 became an unfortunate reality.

As for wanting TNT back, I like their announcers. I like that they aren't biased and the honesty is refreshing. The commercials, graphics (which are slightly less aggravating than Fox Sports), camera angles and audio quality are about enough to piss me off.

I think the coverage of both is great. I'm just not partial to the team in the booth for Fox. Other than that, I'm seeing every second of the sport that I want to. FS1 & FS2 bringing me practice and qualifying is fine by me. Like I've said before, I don't care what channel it's on as long as it's on.

Don't forget the constant stick n ball promos and everything else Fox has their finger in. Even the goofy off topic ticker runs most of the time during the never ending self promotional promo's. I bet they say fox sports 1 200 times a race. I bet they had a hell of an argument at Vegas wanting to throw a bunch of commercials in the last ten laps. Can't wait for the streaming racing channel coming up. Can't get any worse racing coverage unless they can make the whole race side by, where is the race side? Announcers don't bother me, I know how to watch a race.

Only thing that bothered me was an annoying audio hum on the broadcast, that and the wrong driver won :(

I use to worry about this as well. Now i don't give a ****. If my friends think I'm an idiot, then whatever, they can go play with their balls and talk about how much Deedle Dum is going to make the next season.

Hell yeah. Michael is so goofy that he's funny.
