This finally cemented a result that had gone begging in the prior three races, in which he had led the most laps but somehow fell short one way or another. It was the first of what would become his many triumphs with Furniture Row Racing. The victory saw him run second in the standings only to a very much in-form Kevin Harvick, by 39 points. Recently retired drivers, such as Dale Jr., Jamie McMurray, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, and Jeff Gordon were all in the top ten in points. Carl Edwards was hanging on to the final transfer spot, but was already locked in by virtue of a fuel-mileage Coke 600 win.
