Overtime Line moved to S/F

Johnson and Hamlin did something similar at Indy, both knew their cars were going away, and they ran them until they blew up. I couldn't blame either, that is how its done, you never know they might have lasted to the end of the race. First words out of Jimmies mouth after he spun was "I had them"

I agree it's good they're attempting to fix it, but they ought to stick with the existing rule for the entire season. Changing the rule mid-season isn't fair to the teams that made it through the last 'restart' at Indianapolis, or any other race where a caution came out between the restart line and the S/F line. By the new rule, that wasn't a restart and those teams should have had another chance at winning.

NASCAR should have announced that the line would be moved at the start of the 2018 season. This is like the NFL announcing after Week 10 that OT will now last an entire extra quarter instead of sudden death. But then, NASCAR should have tested the entire 'Restart Line' concept in Truck series for an entire season. Instead, they instituted it as a knee-jerk reaction to Harvick's Talladega "one restart" non-restart (which was itself a reaction to G-W-C issues on plate tracks).

I think you might need to get up to speed a bit faster pace. These are the days of being able to judge the reactions of the fan base much faster and more accurately now. They had two real cluster finishes this year with the overtime line and another close call with that stupid line. The majority of fans were awful jacked up about it and rightly so. With the change made about they only dissenter voices are the any change is too much and has to be bad fans. The rest are saying good riddance.

The fans were jacked up because NASCAR obviously held the yellow flag for several seconds until after the leader crossed the restart line, just so they could declare the race finished and avoid another restart. They can pull that same stunt with the S/F line, and they will.

If they can judge the fan base faster and more accurately, they wouldn't have instituted the restart line in the first place. That alone demonstrates they either can't judge it accurately or ignore their data.

not that one, that was a close call. Here is one of them.

Alrighty then. This is better IMO. Just about everyone and myself hates it when they can't race to the checkers. Still, finishing the race naturally even if under caution would be acceptable to me after dealing with the craziness for several years.

Exactly.

Not gonna lie, every time I see the thread title , my first thought is San Francisco.
