Goodyear Racing Notes: Las Vegas Motor apeedway
The Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setups that await NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series teams at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend are the same left- and right-side pairings each series ran during last October’s race at the Nevada track.
In addition to Las Vegas last fall, both series used these same setups at Kansas Speedway in September. The left-side tires were also run six times in each series last season, giving teams a strong notebook of data to lean on heading into the weekend.
“Teams will be able to lean on their data from October’s races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to refine their strategies for this weekend,” said Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear Director of Racing for the Americas. “The track surface at Las Vegas does not usually encourage much tire wear, so the setups we’ve brought this weekend are designed to shed rubber. That allows heat to dissipate through the tread, keeping the tires cooler and promoting fall-off over the course of a run.”
O’Reilly Auto Parts Series teams will also use inner liners at Las Vegas, as is customary on tracks 1-mile and longer.
