penske inks brad k wolfe 2 to 2 year

I figured it was a short term deal but I had not heard any terms announced.

Brad takes 48.

Terry Labonte was pretty good too.
Yes he was, took a championship away from Jeff. But when your talking great drivers only two stand out at HMS. Yet HMS has the most wins so they were some good drivers. I liked Bodine in the 5 car.

2 years? Wow, some commitment....

Wish it was 5 years or something. In 2 short years we will be going through same thing.

So Mr. H has had 2 very successful drivers and that makes him a genius? WoopeDo.

Not sure if he is a genius that is a subjective thing. But definitely more successful. Those two only have won 11 times as many championship than Penske.

Jimmie Johnson 83 wins in 563 starts 7 championships.
Jeff Gordon 93 wins in 805 starts
4 championships
Total 176 wins 1368 starts for a 12.87 % win percentage.
11 championships.

Penske has 103 wins in 1731 starts and 1 cup championship.

Hendrick concentrated his efforts on dealerships and Nascar and has become very rich doing so.
Penske has ventured into many business and his love of open wheel was his choice.
Penske and Hass are BILLIONAIRES while Rick has become the big fish in a small pond and is a mere Millionaire. Dale junior is a driver / commercial actor and is also worth 300 + million.:boxing::sarcasm::sarcasm:

I think this is a smart move on whomever came up with that particular number.

It gives both parties the freedom to assess whatever situation they may find themselves in without being tied in a super long term like say what Hendrick found himself being in with Kasey.

Looking back I'm sure Hendrick would not have given Kasey that long extension so I think short stints is a good thing, not bad.

His scouting runs deep

And yet for all the success Jimmer and Jeff had Mr. H passed on Kyle Busch and Brad K in turn to sign Casey Mears and Mark Martin. Yeah, great call there. He gifted JGR and Penske two championship drivers who are only just now entering the prime of their career while HMS is scrambling to promote new talent quickly through an over taxed farm system because they failed to get younger earlier.

Didn't read any links here... but apparently the BK extension is thru 2028!!!!

I guess that would matter to me if I were a fortune 500 or GQ type, I dont follow Wal Street etc...

Just a simple man that follows racing and from an accomplishment standpoint Hendrick has a far better Cup resume.
Penske deserves a lot of respect he iconic for his accomplishments in all of Motorsports including Cup.
But regardless of who has the best bank account, in Nascar Hendrick is a grade above all other current owners.
All of the above is just my opinion.

Great pairing, but I've soured a bit on Wolfe lately...a lot of his "great" calls have been gambles and fuel mileage plays made possible only by a truly great driver.

Make no mistake, Brad K is one of the very best drivers of this era. Sure fire HOF imo, and the straw that stirs that drink.

He was spot on in 2012 and the lead up. But Wolfe seems more hit or miss since then, and up to this year I think the 22 was definitely the more consistent of the two, and the best bet down the stretch.
In the same span I think Brad has been consistent as well, I am just not as confident in Wolfe as I was in 2012.
All IMO.

Nah, I see that too. It ebbs and flows though.
