The dirt race at Bristol was ok. They thought they could get asses in the seats in the spring and that clearly didn't work. Why continue to waste massive amounts of labor to prep and then tear down the track when it doesn't move the attendance needle at all? Or the TV ratings either.

They tried to create a new "crown jewel" race that was must-see. It never became that.

I guess we can add getting loose in qualifying and starting in the rear to the list of ways the five team screws up with the fastest car.

It’s as if the driver and support personnel of the # 5 are all automatons and expected to perform their tasks error-free 100% of the time.

Ridiculous.

I look at it a different way, gonna be fun watching him come from the back. I don't call going balls out for the pole a screw up.

If it makes you feel better he was only fastest in 5 lap average
Fastest in practice, fastesr in 5 lap average, and fastest in overall total lap averages.

Hopefully this isnt an aero race like last year.

Pretty good Truck race and a terrific Xfinity race. Why do some people say this track needs another overhaul?
People want the old Bristol chaos. If I remember correctly it was a conveyor belt for 500 laps interrupted by someone slamming in to the back of another and spinning them out and in the process collecting 4 or 5 cars with them. Then they would throw socks and shoes and expensive helmets and the crowd would go wild. Today, you have at least 3 grooves to run on ( after the grip glue wears out) and cars running 3 wide at times on a short track that you cover in just over 14 seconds. You still have someone running over another and collecting innocent bystanders and the socks and shoes and helmet throwing but somehow we still whine for "the good ol days" I think Billy Joel said it best in the song " Keepin the faith" he said " well the good ol days weren't always good and tomorrow's not as bad as it seems"

I thought they were nuts gluing up the bottom groove instead of up higher like they usually did it. So far they are two for two this weekend and the ARCA race wasn't any slouch either.

I wonder if they touched it up after last night. I hope so but eventually the top will come in

I keep looking at the forecast hoping it changes. The hour by hour has improved a bit, showing a low chance of rain until about 10pm. The radar isn’t promising though as the rain in Southern TN seems to be moving rather quickly, fast enough to where it will get to Bristol long before 10pm. Still time for it to break apart or move slower.

I have bitched about this before, but NASCAR---uh TV--needs to be more flexible. All day dry, and try to start when it goes to ****. If you can move it to another day, you can move it to an earlier start time. They must be thinking that if we lose it tonight, we go tomorrow night....where it looks to clear up....

It is not that simple. All changes to the schedule have to be pre approved by the Felon.

You do know these networks have other contract obligations, they can't just shove everyone for NASCAR
