Please write off these loans for the HoF

Thats the same review I got from my friends. Over priced for the amount of stuff it has, or doesnt have.

I have not been to the HOF, but, if the opportunity presents itself, I would have to and want to go because I am a Nascar Fan.
There's a free day. Drivers are usually there that day for autographs. They limit some things, like the iracing sims. There's no use to even bother with it on the free day.

Exactly.

I'll make it there the next time I get down that way for the All-Star / 600 race week. We'll do the usual race shop tours and then head to the HoF.

By don't even bother, I meant the iracing.

That's your personal preference. It's not that they are overcharging though. That was my only point.

Here's the thing: NASCAR IS overcharging for what they have. The football and baseball HOFs can charge a lot because they have a TON of historic stuff in there. If I pay $20 to get into Cooperstown and Canton, I am going to see a ton of historic stuff from a variety of sources. NASCAR's HOF does not have that. What it has IS cool but it feels a bit bare.

This place has sounded like a bust for a few years now.

Regarding the actual HoF, I think at some point they need to stop inducting five people per year or eventually they're going to seriously dilute the quality of the classes.

That's what a HoF is.... diluted. Baseball is the worst.

So if I don't care about the sims, is that the time to be there? Is everyone else clustered around the games, so one can move freely at the other exhibits?
Honestly, you won't have any trouble seeing any of the exhibits. You can just save yourself a 5 to 20 minute wait in line to drive 1 lap around daytona. On the not free days, you get to drive more but if you don't care about that it doesn't matter.
One cool thing my son and I liked (and if you bring someone with you, you may like as well) was the simulated pit stop. You become a Jackman, gas man and tire changer. Pretty neat.
The Yarborough Allison 79 daytona cars are also there on an upper floor.
Overall, it is worth a visit. Maybe once every year or two.

Edit: January 31 is free day this year I believe.

It's hard to compare because even in a league with rosters as small as the NBA you still have ~ 400 active players at any given time, baseball has something like 750 and the NFL about 1,700. Their playing careers (or at least the productive period of their careers) are also much shorter than that of a race driver so there's going to be a whole lot more turnover in those sports. It's going to prove to be way bigger of an issue for NASCAR.

I think the biggest problem with HoF is that most of the memorabilia is in private hands, and I doubt those hands are going to simply donate them to the HoF. I mean why would Richard Childress ever give up Dale Earnhardt's 7 Championship trophies? Why would Richard Petty give up his Plymouth Superbird?

Why should the loans be written off? They made a business decision and it flopped. Nature of the beast, not every venture is a success. Suck it up and pay up.
Charlotte should drag Nascar into court and sue.

The numbers are one thing, but what makes a HoFer is what I worry about. That transcends the sport. HoFers should be those who without them our sport would have been altered. The King and The Intimidator are at the top of my list. Everybody else needs to be close. I don't give a **** about "contributors to the sport." I am talking about those essential people without whom or sport would be screwed. HoF's mean **** to me. I would love to see the NASCAR HoF more as a museum than as a palace of greatness.

The Charlotte City Council voted 10-1 to approve an agreement with Bank of America, Wells Fargo and NASCAR to forgive more than $22 million in debt from the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

The details

Under the agreement, the city will pay the two banks $5 million. In exchange, the banks will write off $14.1 million in principal and $3.5 million in accrued interest.

In addition, NASCAR will waive $3.2 million in royalties that it’s owed since the hall opened in 2010.

I wish someone would forgive my debts. They're nowhere close to $22 million.

Yup, how many people did BoA foreclose on when they lost their jobs through no fault of their own?

Hey, I would also like free money from Wells Fargo, how can we make that happen?

I did a refi and BoA reported me delinquent for 8 months on a mortgage that was paid off and showed a zero balance. Played he77 to get them to admit they screwed up. Finally got the state Atty Gen and banking Comm involved. Never got a sorry, my bad or even a go screw yourself from them.

My only bank dealings now are with a local credit union and bank, both places where I can walk into and get answers.

Same for me for similar reasons. Even some small local banks, when they start expanding, begin to take on the personalities of the big guys. They get to where they couldn't care less about a single person not bringing in a million bucks.

My local credit union members recently voted to transition into a community bank. Now they can enter the commercial lending market. As CD'S, which pay squat, mature we are pulling them and going to a true credit union .

I've got navy federal and they're alright but there are no branches anywhere close. I just use the SECU. So far, I've been pretty happy with them.

We've used PenAir FCU forever and wouldn't change unless they go out of business.
