How do we send a PM on this new board? I don't want everyone on the board to see what I pm to another member by starting a conversation. I tried sending a conversation today and it sent the thing to me instead or at least that's the way it looks. I have no idea if the party got my message or not.
 
Conversations are limited to you and whoever you invite to it. That "Start a Conversation" link only invites that one person; you have to specifically type other people's names into the box in order for anyone else but you and them to see it.

They're basically like threads, but private instead of public. Instead of having a sent folder and a received folder, it's all in your inbox.

You can see whoever can see the conversation in the sidebar on the right when you're looking at a message in your inbox. It shows their avatar and their name. If you see the other person in that sidebar, then they got your message and their inbox will stay lit up.
