Pocono race thread

Great. NASCAR keeps running laps under yellow until it starts to really rain.

If it was safe enough to have the cars on the track to parade around under yellow for this long then they certainly could have run a green/white/checker to have a real finish.

Too bad if Gordon gets burned again. As long as he continues to run up front he will get one or more wins this year.

There is a slight gap between rain clouds.

No way does Nascar want to give this to Hornish.

They will do a restart even if it is only for a few laps before the larger rain comes and they call the race.

See ya later sideways sam, or should I say sitting duck sam.

Who is taking bets that Sadler will be out of the car next week. That was a horrific crash, amazing the rebound off that pile of dirt. The Black Box had to register a solid 150 G's. Like Tim Brewer said, the HANS literally saved Elliott's life. It reminded me of the Steve Park/Dale Jr accident in 2002(?). Pocono has to get their safety **** figured out. He hit right where the wall turns, I'm sure it had to point-load the chassis. I mean, hell, it threw the engine out of the car, going backwards Kurt's tire and Elliott's engine were laying there side by side.

Yea, hitting the K rail with dirt behind it HAS to be better than hitting concrete, but they NEED the SAFER barrier there soon.

Looked like the hit that killed the Mexican race driver in the south of the border series. Definatley, every track needs to pay attention to this and fix the problem areas.

I was working on my truck all day and finally got to watch the race.
WOW. Where do I start? First off they need to change the name of this place to, "Joke-Or-No?" The quality race consistency, from a fans perspective, sucks.
Here comes the JJ rant part of my post, so JJ fans cover your eyes.
Post-COT spoiler, IF Johnson is out front or battling for the lead he has a shot. If JJ is caught up mid-pack it's every man for himself. Fortunately, Sadler is still alive. At least Carl tried to kill Keselowski. Johnson's quote from the radio was, " I think that was our fault...", ...uh sorry, Jimmie, it wasn't "OUR" fault, it was "YOURS". Another example of JJ's inability to accept blame. I watched the video several times and only saw the 48 moving left while getting into the rear of the 2. The response from Kurt Busch during post-crash interview, "...Jimmie Johnson drove straight through us...". Same way that I saw it. I can't wait to see Jimmie, post-Knauss. Gordon has proven himself, post-Evernham. I seriously do not believe JJ is made of the same stuff.
Congrats to Ford and Roush Racing for their visit to Victory Lane. Get well soon, Cat-In-The-Hat!

JJ caused that crash but he wasn't doing anything everyone else wasn't doing. They were all bump drafting down the straight the entire race.

I agree, BF

Get out of here with that mess. It was stupid but not intentional or rough driving.

Agreed!

JJ was actually trying to do Bush a favor and push him by the 33 car. Not saying he wasn't trying to advance his own position at the same time, but still, it woulda worked out well for Bush and JJ been a little more skilled at what he was trying to do.

On a side note, it isn't like Kurt hasn't wrecked anyone before....

I'm so happy I decided to skip going to this race today. I would have been beyond disgusted having to sit there and watch Biffle win. I can't stand the guy, it was bad enough watching it on tv.

The rain certainly played a huge role in making this an exciting race. The sense of urgency had these guys racing hard. I think the drivers put on a good race yesterday at Pocono. Say what you want but the racing can be pretty good there. Shorten the normal race down to 300 miles and it should be much better IMO.

Bump-drafting is one thing but stay behind the guy that you're bump-drafting. JJ turned left during the bump-draft and turned the 2 into the fence.
