Points Standing IRL Style

Some mention of the Winston Cup points system was made, in the interest of conversation here are the points standing if the IRL system were applied to date.

The IRL system is:

1st ---- 50
2nd ---- 40
3rd ---- 35
4th ---- 32
5th ---- 30
Two point drop for every postion down to 20 for 10th.
One point drop for every position down to 1 for 29th
One point for positons over 29
2 points for leading most laps

Interesting. Both systems lead to a very good points race. IRL rewards top finishers more, NASCAR rewards consistency more. The point difference between winner and second is only 10 points, but the ratio is far greater.
 
doesn't IRL also give bonus points for most laps lead?
I'm sure I heard that yesterday when Hornish won:)
 
HS did mention that in his post. 2 points for leading the most laps. Those are the only bonus points the IRL has.
 
Very similar but punishes poor finishing more than the NASCAR system. I could live with it.......would really put a damper on points racing.:)
