PRIME broadcast: now that’s a winner!

I thought it used to be bad we had to deal with all those pesky commercials, but I would have gladly exchanged those to get the gerbils to stop talking about “fuel.” Good grief how much time was spent on something that ultImately affected only a driver or two?

The gerbils jump on any possible reason for drama that they can create and they chew all of the flavor out of it. You can tell what they are going to say before they say it. PRN was sync'd to the race so I went that way. I checked back in to the Gerbs and they were in full song about the fuel mileage 101 spiel. Turned the sound back down, PRN's commercial was over.

That was the first time the Amazon booth actively annoyed me. Yeah, yeah, they go faster out in front, they get worse mileage. Anybody with a driver's license and a couple of months experience not already know that? I guess I was the only one not geeking out over the estimated MPG graphic.

But otherwise the broadcast is still better than Fox. As has been noted, MRN / PRN are available for audio; there's no replacement for poorly produced visuals.

Huh? Your saying only a driver or two was saving fuel in the final run? I would say only a driver or two weren't saving fuel so there is no fact in your statement.

Still like their broadcast a lot. Adam is an excellent lead announcer. Enjoy Jr and his gut reactions to events, plus his perspectives offered on the race and sport overall. LeFart was a bit more tame in the first race, but he has entered full irritation gerbil mode since. Can’t seem to help himself, but less is MORE. Didn’t watch the post race as we had to leave and wouldn’t have watched Hamcrap anyway.

Adam Alexander is a great play by play guy, Jr needs to tone it down a bit. Letart doesn't bother me. Much better than fox.

No, I am saying that at the end of the day there was only a few drivers that actually ran out of fuel. I have listened to enough driver radios to know that they are frequently told to "save" fuel. It happens in practically every race so it's just part of racing these days. Yesterday's stage 3 was not a first.

For contrast on MRN they relayed info for 3 or 4 cars who were in the lead pack about what their crew chiefs were telling the driver how short on making it they were and then they went back to calling the race.
I have unfortunately witnessed the gerbil fuel mileage extravaganzas, speak it to me like I am 5th grade s*it shows. Did they do the egg on the accelerator thing? I think that is a Letarte favorite.

The gerbils chatter and graphics about the playoff cut-off line, although brought up less than Jeff Burton beating it to death, was still annoying.

If people want to know real annoying announcers, they should hear Booker T on NXT 😂
I don’t watch NXT often BECAUSE of Booker T. These folks don’t know how good they have it with commentary.

Same man same lmao. I might watch if something is happening, like when Trick was defending the TNA Title against Santana, but like it's the one show I can't watch weekly. 😂

Its going to take me a while to get use to
going in and out of apps while surfing channels.
Found myself listening to the audio MRN coverage
in the earbuds @nascar.com then easily going to a
car radio when there is car specific action.

I thought they got good info from Trevor Bayne. I don't know if that was given to him or he came up with it himself. Fox just has the pit reporters repeat what's on the scanners.

I wonder if Prime picks up five more races soon.
Based on how I interpret the article, TNT will probably continue coverage through the 2028 season. That year, the network's contracts expire for MLB, NHL, and college football playoffs. Once those properties are gone, the remaining contracts may not be enough to prop the network up.

Prime or NBC, I'll be happy as long as it isn't Fox.

And sometimes the pit reporter will report some car condition that was reported on WAY back in the race. The driver has since reported a different situation.

Honestly, it’s the latest domino to fall in the death of cable TV.

As the article states, USA is part of Versant now. NBC Sports is a huge question mark next year too. Will the races go to NBC, stay on USA, or go to Bravo?

And this is what's important. Have to try and grow the younger fan base for the fans of the future.
They have been talking about the B.S. for over 15 years lol. It seems to come up when the viewership is down. And around and round we go.

I understand your concern for Fox having more races. But once again I was talking about the younger fan base growing. So far that is what happened. I'm sure next week it will be even better.

Doesn't have anything to do with Fox. Saying the younger crowd is more important than overall viewers is a myth.

Agreed, but how many will follow to TNT?
Good question. It looked like many old guys disappeared once the races went to Prime & I expect the young guys will disappear when the races begin on TNT. It’s almost like people are more fans of what platform the races are on then the races themselves

SOI won’t be happy with TV until every race is on FOX and viewers continue to be driven away by their god awful coverage.

Overall Ratings are down because boomers would rather pay $200/month to watch races with commercials than $9/month to watch without commercials. Well, for free when you realize there’s a trial.

Their wives already have Prime and they’d rather boycott and hurt the sport to be right than watch the races.

I don't know that it's being fans as much as the older ones not comfortable with streaming, and the younger ones not willing to pay a couple hundred a month for cable.
NASCAR’s older fans are the worst fans in all of sports.

When boomers say they can’t afford to spend $9 to watch the races, they’re telling the sponsors we won’t buy your products because we broke hillbillies so don’t bother.
