Hey I'm new to the forum so welcome everybody! I am thinking of making a trip to the coke 600 from PA with some friends, and was wondering if anyone could help me out with a few questions I have. The first one is does anybody have any hotel recommendations near the track or within reasonable distance? And what's the best way to buy tickets for the race? When we go to Dover were often able to buy tickets from scalpers, is Charlotte the same way? Thanks guys.

Every time I've gone to Charlotte I camped in a peach orchard within walking distance from the track, so I couldn't help you with recommending a hotel. But you can probably find something from the link I posted below.
Perhaps someone else here can recommend something.

As far as tickets, I'd buy them online right from the track. Be sure to have a window open of the track seating chart when you're talking to the ticket sales agent, so you can try to get tickets close to where you want to sit.

Good luck, and welcome to the board.

Welcome to the forum jpell15 , I'm sure you will find all that stuff on the track website . Hope you have a great time and post a couple of pictures when you get back.

Since the internet came along, I have always bought my tickets online. The area around Charlotte has many hotels just a short drive from the track. I normally stay in Salisbury.

Allocate some extra time because the museum and race shops are worth doing.

Have a great time.

Don't really have the answers for your question but welcome to the forum! It'll get a little hot in here but it's all in good fun & it's moderated very well. I've been to Charlotte as a kid & there's not a bad seat in the house.

Been there several times. You can get tickets easily at the ticket office or scalpers. Your not taking a chance with the ticket office. Scalpers? You're taking a chance but you may save some $'s or you might get taken.

I go to the coke 600 every year. I am fortunate enough that I stay with family who actually live right there and work in the shops. Don't be fooled that just because my family works in the shops that they can get free tickets because they cannot!
Every year I get my tickets from the same scalper who sets up in the same place every year. I even have his phone number on speed dial because he also gets me my tickets for other tracks too. I would be skeptical of some of the other yahoos running around selling tickets tho!
Charlotte is an awesome race to attend and it would be next to impossible to be disappointed!

Welcome to the forum. I will say that during my younger days I and some of my friends spent the night at the track. I tried to sleep on the car hood all night. But I don't recommend that option. But it is a great facility to watch the race in. Always had good seats every time I went. I sat in about every section of the grand stands (even on the backstretch). Only problem with the backstretch is seeing what's going on in the pits. Hope you enjoy.

Welcome aboard, this is a great place.. Can't tell you anything that they haven't about CMS.

There's a whole slew of hotels on Gateway Lane which is right off I-85 and Bruton Smith Blvd, about 1 mile from the track. There's also a number of restaurants around that area as well as some fast-food joints. But I think the hotels in this area fill up early and I'm sure they jack up their rates considerably for those 2 weeks.

I would advise against sitting on the backstretch for the 600 because you'll bake in the sun for the first couple of hours.

I completely agree with not sitting on the backstretch. Good call! I personally like where the GM/Chrysler sections meet. Also be sure not to sit too high because there are columns that make better doors that they do windows!

Thanks for all the help guys! My dad always said it was his favorite track to see the race so now that I can finally afford to make the trip I'm excited.
