RACE thread --- The Open and the All-Star

I was watching a race from the early 2000s which was on NBC. After every pit stop, the team that had the fastest pit stop, they had a video with the crew members introducing themselves the way they do on Sunday Night Football. And they also did the Golden Benny thing for the fastest pit stop each race and did in-depth stories about pit crew members every race.

These modern NASCAR broadcasts drive me bonkers. Honestly, Fox's NHRA broadcasts suck balls too. The NHRA broadcast is all personality based and not about the cars anymore. They air goofy segments in between eliminations, whereas ESPN would be in the pits showing the real man work going on.

Don't get me started on pre-race shows. I like looking at Shannon Spake, but other than that, this doesn't do it for me. I'd love to see someone replicate the TNT Summer Series pre-race shows. Those were on point.

You summed it up, the last few years the the broadcasts have become more personality driven focus ( a lot of that for the on air talent as making them just as important) FOX this year is trying to be the show then about covering the show.

It's like cable news. They've moved away from covering the news to just having panels on every hour every day talking. It's all about personality.

Thing is, all this **** is cheaper to produce than doing the taped segments and stuff.

Yep. A studio full of hot-air dispensers is cheaper than location shoots, research and fact checking, editing, arranging interviews; you know, work.

Right, its the same reason why the networks love "reality" shows, so much cheaper to produce.

Reality TV has been put out of business by reality. Yet the networks still produce tons of this **** because it's cheap, and then wonder why people are fleeing cable and going to Netflix.

Second time this week they are using All Star(they didnt play the song on RH) , it was question on Race Hub this week, we get it, the song All Star is the same name of All Star Race.
