Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

No sh!t... The Camry bodystyle WILL be updated for the 2017 season to reflect the next gen Camry. I said for 2017, not the '17 model year.
No Sh*t, you dont say

I realized after I posted that, and past the time to edit the post, that the teams will have the updated body panels in place for 2017, its all good:cheers:

Chad Little's John Deere car got me hooked on NASCAR DIECAST. I wonder how long they will last

Where's Danica?

Brian France is grinning like an idiot from ear to ear and rolling around on the floor in Salsa Picante this morning.
I like Daniel Suarez. I hope he makes it to the very top.

Daniel Suárez receives hero's welcome in Mexico City: A NASCAR championship aside, Daniel Suárez is still making his name known in the United States. In his native Mexico, his name is etched in gold. He's a rock star, the kind of guy who draws large crowds of adoring fans, each one seeking an autograph or selfie or handshake or high-five. Need proof? Just look at the crowd that packed Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on Sunday. Suárez served as the grand marshal of the NASCAR PEAK Mexcio Series exhibition race, continuing a whirlwind celebration that hasn't stopped since he won the NASCAR XFINTIY Series championship last month. Suárez could barely take a step without posing for a picture, signing an autograph or hearing the words "felicidades campeón (translation: congratulations, champion).

Who is Casey Elliott?

Who is Casey Elliott?
Chase Elliott's cousin. It must be a misprint.

Casey Elliott (February 13, 1974 – January 14, 1996) was an American stock car racing driver. The nephew of 1988 NASCAR Winston Cup champion Bill Elliott, he raced in the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series and Busch Series before being diagnosed with cancer; he turned to the motorsports ministry and crew chiefing before his death from the disease at age 21.

I figured it was, but I knew that name also sounded familiar I read about him in Bills book.

Does anyone know how far the removal has advanced towards turn 4? Are the grandstands in 3 & 4 now a mirror of what's left in turns 1 & 2?
They are just taking the top part in 3 and 4 that wasn't being used and was covered with banners, and in the 2nd picture you See the start of the grandstand, and it's a little less than turns 1 and 2 not really sure.

Thanks for the info. I only started attending races at Dover in 2011 so I never saw the placed filled to the brim with 140K+ fans.

We were long time Dover season ticket holders. Since way back in the asphalt era. Before they ever thought of expanding. We watched and took part in the venues rise and fall of NASCAR fans. We no longer attend races there but we'll be back some day if they continue to race there.

We've never attended a Dover race but I have it penciled in for next season along with Charlotte and others.

They are calling it 'Right-sizing'.

'Right-sizing' at Dover continues with removal of unused seats:
Dover International Speedway will have a cozier feel when the Monster Mile hosts the first of its 2017 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events June 2-4 as "right-sizing" continued at the historic raceway. Construction crews have been working all week to remove seating in the top grandstand, but raceway officials say the work being seen by anyone driving by the track is merely the conclusion of the seat removal process that was started a couple of years ago. "This is a decision we made 2-3 years ago to downsize our facility," said Dover International Speedway President Michael Tatoian. "Our capacity will remain at 85,000. This is the right size for our current attendance." Capacity at Dover has dwindled since 2009, when the seating capacity was 135,000. That year, a seat-widening project decreased capacity to 113,000 and the numbers have continued to drop since. [Dover International Speedway President Michael] Tatoian said that talks were ongoing to revamp the area of the grandstand that is being taken down, but in the end, there was no good way to repurpose the area of the raceway. But going forward, he said the seating removal creates a better atmosphere for the fans and leaves open the possibility to create another unique space.

If things stay the same they will be "right-sizing" every few years with no announcements.
I wonder if they have thought of taking out every second seat so you have room for the cooler beside you.?????

What, your cooler isn't seat worthy? :D

Those seats at Dover that were removed are all aluminum bench seats. That would be a lot of cutting.
Just remember you talking to a dumb Canuck who Bush banned from going to the states to watch Nascar. I realized later we are terrorists because we brought Canadian beer which is a real bomb compared to that flavored water they sell as beer in the states. :sarcasm:

Not sure what I can do about you but if you want to meet me at the border, I'll gladly accept you beer.

You ever get the idea your all alone in this world? :D
I used to be that way except for the occasional evening of drinking.

Now my doctor feeds me so many pills I don't have much room for food.
