Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Contents of a note to moderator sent earlier ...

“Pride merchandise is being marketed by NASCAR as part of their effort ti be inclusive and to begin to break down barriers.

NASCAR used their own Twitter account to post what you have apparently deemed unsuitable material for the NASCAR forum. Moving my post to The Podium is an act of censorship, not moderation.

You might want to reconsider.”

I've always wondered if semi truck racing is still a thing. In the intro to Smokey and The Bandit 2, Jerry Reed is racing a cabover at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It looked like a fun time
Here's on that's around there's another I'm aware of called the Bandit Big Rig Series they don't run on the big tracks anymore (expect Rockingham) because they tear up the corners

Trucks and SRX this weekend both at similar times on Saturday night. :dunce:
TVRacer doesn't show SRX this weekend, although it does show ARCA.

EDIT: TVRacer doesn't mention SRX at all! The SRX web page doesn't mention TV coverage either, beyond listing CBS Sports as a partner. I finally found a mention on CBS's site:

I e-mailed TVRacer to suggest adding SRX to the listing. @StandOnIt, thanks for mentioning it!

Got the other 3 main HMS scheme kits

Now you see why I have been whining about the lack of info this year about SRX. Found not on the SRX site but CBS

Amen to that, Aunty. Although I don't really care for the photo selected by Nascar, I certainly applaud their effort to be more inclusive. It's the same thing as Nascar promoting Black History Month, which they do every year, or celebrating Hispanic Heritage initiatives, which they also do.

It's about as controversial as pink race cars for breast cancer, or public service ads encouraging Covid vaccination... i.e. not controversial at all for people who cherish the American guarantee of personal freedom.. :salute:

this poor fella is being taken to the woodshed for this tweet. Sometimes, NASCAR fans are idiots. Why wouldnt an overhang over a track that hosts a hot daytime Cup race be a good idea? not an engineer obviously but I would like to see it implemented at some places that have hot races. Darlington had one for a long time and it looked damn cool too.

Some of the Indy grandstands are still covered. I suspect the tracks don't regard it as a worthwhile upgrade for seats that are occupied less than a week a year. They'd raise ticket prices to pay for it, and I for one would not regard the shade as being worth the cost. F1 attendees are used to paying ridiculous rates.

So many Fairgrounds dirt tracks have them

I'm sure we'll never know but I think it would be cool to see how much some of these big teams have top level guys tied up in contracts.
