Rank the tracks in order of favorite to least favorite

Yep, just last year.

Yep, tastes the same.

What makes them great is that you can only get one at the one of the best two races of the year.
Very true. Actually, the last time I went, maybe '07? They made you put your own condiments on them. There is definitely a quality drop off. Still an awesome track and $2 a dog ain't bad compared to some other tracks. I'm lucky I live about 45 min. from the track.

Order it loaded and they put everything on it. ;)

One thing that is kind of cool about Martinsville. The last few years they've been taking your food orders right from your seats in the South Terrace. They deliver it right to your seat!

Cool. I was supposed to go last race. Me and my co-worker got so drunk the night before, we couldn't make it, lol, or smh?

Well, I'm pretty biased towards my "home" tracks but...

Top 5

Iowa
Charlotte
Kansas
Fontana
Martinsville

Bottom 5
Michigan
Pocono
Texas
Chicagoland
Homestead

Homestead is by far the worst, road courses are the best, martinsville- good -- bristol just above any 1.5 mile track or 2 mile which all suck.... Darlingting is pretty good. North Wilksboro was great==Richmond sux--really really sux- Rockingham was good actually better than kansas, chicago, vegas, texas kentucky michigan vegas atlanta fontana....... Worst mistake by nascar? making bristol 2 grooves. Indy, I will never watch again and they know why. BORING. .waste of tv time. I've been a die-hard nascar fan for 25 plus years, but I really have lost my excitement the last 2 years. plate races suck lately. Dear nascar, why is racing so boring the last few years??????????????????????????

You're absolutely correct, nobody wants to see a 195 mph single file parade.

Top 5
Bristol
Dover
Atlanta
Darlington
Talladega

Bottom 5
Loudon

Chicago
Indy

I tried for 15 minutes to do this list, but apparently my memory fails me once I get to the cookie cutters.

I've only been to a handful of tracks but I can't imagine a track more boring than Michigan. 3 lanes wide. I also stopped going to Bristol once they redid the track and eliminated the bump & run.

Question: I realize it's Xfinity but can you give me a review on Kentucky? It's a 1 1/2 mile tri oval but within driving distance for me. Else I'm thinking of buying plane tickets to see my first restrictor plate race at Talladega. Got any better ideas?

Welcome aboard!

How far is 'within driving distance'? Where are you coming from? We might be able to suggest better options closer to you.

Will this be your first race? A Truck or Xfinity race is a good, less expensive way to get your feet wet.

I'm coming from Wisconsin.I've been to Bristol, Texas, Michigan, Road America and a few smaller tracks back when Kimberly Clark sponsored the Kleenex car in the Busch series. I'm bringing my 8 year old so I'm looking for a track that will hook him into NASCAR. Found a cheap airfare for the Talladega race. I would have considered Chicagoland but have a conflict. I left Indy out after reading the reviews on this site. If I drive I'd like to keep it under 10 hours. Cost isn't a huge factor but my wife's not a fan so I need something I can sell. Thanks!!

Talladega is a great bet for a first race. My wife was never a race fan, but has been watching every week with me since I took her to Daytona last year. Sure, every week doesn't live up to the excitement of plate racing, but it sure shows you the drama of NASCAR, and you can guarantee an exciting finish.

P.S. As a new Wisconsinite, I miss the variety of tracks I had to choose from in the south. I think Michigan may put on good shows with the newer, lower downforce package; that where I'm looking at.

I'm not a 'Dega or plate fan, so it's tough for me to make that call. I'd have suggested the Truck events at Gateway or Eldora, but those have been run.

He's 8. Is he going to know NASCAR from ARCA? If not, I'd consider the Illinois fairgrounds in two weeks, the Duquoin fairgrounds (IL) in four weeks, or Salem, Indiana in five weeks.

Yeah, Michigan has definitely improved.

It's hard to believe a new down force package would make such a difference but I'll take your word for it. The two races I saw were nothing but cars making laps with easy passing due to multiple lines and no drafting. Then it took about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to get out of the parking lot. I think I'll take the advice on Talladega or Martinsville. Both should give the little guy a thrill and put him on the road to NASCAR geekdom. Thanks a million!

dpkimmel2001, I couldn't resist your lengthy sales pitch. The more I thought about it the more I agreed that Martinsville would be perfect for getting my son fired up about NASCAR. Bought tickets for me and my two boys.

Thanks a million!

We're staying in Burlington and would like to park in Pop Odom parking far enough away that we can get in & out easily. I'd rather walk a mile or two than be caught in traffic. I found some of your recommendations on another thread but didn't know if it applied to the route I'd take from Burlington. It's my first time in Martinsville so I appreciate any and all suggestions. We're going to both the Saturday & Sunday races. Thanks!

If you don't mind walking a couple of miles, you should be able to find plenty of places to park along US 220, south of the US 58 junction. That junction is about half a mile south of the track as the crow flies. Staying soufh of it will really help with the traffic.

They'll leave the light on for ya!

Not interested in the other tracks.

I love short track racing, but they are usually covered in dirt and have 900hp 410 sprint cars on them.

I'm actually a long time NASCAR fan, but I have a hard time finding interest in what current NASCAR has become. I still keep an eye on what's happening, but I stopped all the big race trips.

Our local sprint car racing is hard to beat. PA Posse!

Martinsville.
Speaking of cool races. I saw the Modifieds race at Martinsville one year. Now that was racing. Those cars were smoking around the track. Way faster lap times. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Much better than watching Mike Skinner lead nearly every lap in the Truck race.

Welcome, Dirtman. I'm a long-time admirer of the PA Posse, going back to a summer job in Mechanicsburg in 1971. Williams Grove just around the corner, and that is as good as it gets.
