Rate the Mudsummer Classic!

Also all that great side by side racing and beating and banging for 2nd would have been nice if it was for the lead. That is all that I ask for is some great battling for the lead. Just seemed like the same ole story for this year. More battles for 2nd than 1st going on and last night was not different.

I'm not sure I understand this. Good racing is good racing regardless of position and we saw a really good battle between Newman and Larson in the last 20 laps or so. There was great battling for the lead as well, Larson and Dillon were fighting really hard in the second segment. Does that get invalidated because the leader didn't get challenged in the last two laps? Not every race can have a side by side finish.

I give it a 9. Would have liked to have seen the bottom come in as well, and a little better finish, but it was pretty sweet. I just love seeing drivers do something different than what they are used to. It shows the guys that really have talent, and the ones that don't. Whether it be Cup drivers racing in dirt late models, or a guy like Stewart or Larson that can hop in any car whatever it is and be competitive, it's just so much fun to watch.

TEN! From what I've learned tonight, the only thing dirt tracks aren't good for are burnouts.

Dirt is for racing! Asphalt gets you to the track.

If you ain't got dirt in your beer, you ain't at a race.

When you come home with dirt on your face, you've been to a real race.

If you can't sling it, don't bring it!

Dirty ladies at dirt races

Sideways ...... on purpose.

All torque and no traction

Get off your ass-phalt ... get down to the dirt track

See what you guys who do not attend or do not live close to local dirt tracks have missed?

I don't need to rate it or try to convince anyone that I am a racing aficionado by dissecting it to death, I was there and I still cannot wipe the stupid looking grin off of my face.

Yep.

I went with two diehard NASCAR fans. During the first segment, not much was said. During the second segment we were giving each other high fives. The last segment, well we were making plans for next year.

We really should keep this stuff to our self so tickets are easier to come by next year. ;)

They should be anyway, we are now on the Eldora regular list. :D

LOL I have been an Eldora regular for a long time.
I was talking about me and DP, we should now be on the list according to the lady that sold me the tickets, I hope so we're already planning for next year.

Ahhh. Now I understand. I sure hope there is a second annual.

Where did you sit?

I meant we are as me and the wife, I wouldn't miss it, too damn much fun.
Turn 4 in the grass with my back against the concrete, great spot.

Small world, I was sitting on a lawn chair in turn four on the lowest level of concrete.

I give it a 9, thought it was a pretty good race for the asphalt guys. Just wished the lower groves had came in and the track had tightened up to allow more passing. One slick track. Pretty impressed that there weren't very many wrecks. Think KB would have been better off if he or Kurt had of drove his truck.

I enjoyed the race but those big ol lumbering pick-ups sure do look slow after watching Latemodels and Sprints run around Eldora.

9.5

The only thing I think could have made it better is a more effective and consistent lower line. I saw a lot of good, hard racing though. Best race of the year.

Race was ok. I'd like to see them bring that 4 wide race start to cup though.

9! Would be 10 if I would have liked the winner better and NASCAR wouldn't have screwed Larson out of a win.

NASCAR followed their rules. Larson was ahead when the caution came out but Dillon was ahead at the previous timing line. Had it been after the white flag they'd have gone back to position at the time of the caution. Just because YOU think Larson was "screwed" doesn't mean he was.

FTR, I wanted Larson to win.

NASCAR threw a fake debris caution right as Larson was passing Dillon. Had that not happened Larson would have been in front of him and likely won.

Ah , the old fake debris caution arguement ...har ..captn you've got im there .;)
yep, the fish threw down on the debris caution, called out the black helicopter..all bets are off..Conspiracy to keep Larson from winning, and you have timing and scoring involved. double whammy, points awarded, game set match. now, who do you think stole Blooquist's sway bar? Dillon or Larson?

I'm only saying that NASCAR threw the debris caution at a terrible time for Larson, whether it was intentional or not. I don't mean to go all Andy on ya ;)
