RATE THE RACE: Bristol Night Race

8 Too much round a round on the top.

I have to watch it tomorrow from the ESPN replay, my ABC affiliate showed preseason football instead.

just out of curiosity what made this race the best of the year? passing was harder than dog ****, wasnt too much great battles for the lead, and Hamlin ran away with it at the end. if this was the best of the year than what does that say for this season?

Solid 9.5.

What a way to spend a Sunday morning. Big breakfast, watching Nascar and my 18mth little girl walking aroung saying " cars cars cars ", she's going to be daddys little girl.

Anyway,

Re the race, I feel that we saw some real racing and not some much points driving. Thats not saying that other races are not racing... its just that this was more so.

Danica's finger wave reminded me less of Cena and more of when Hulk Hogan used to get in the ring and poit and say "YOU"! LOL

Give it 7.5.
Top single groove racing is not exciting. There were too many unnecessary cautions for what?
Might be they were raising the "caution count" so next spring they can start to advertise the number of cautions creating the impression of a wild, wreck fest, crash, bang wreck 'em, thriller of another so-so event.
Give me Richmond and Martinsville any day.

TEN!!! Easily the best race all year!

I think Watkins Glenn and Martinsville were better races. Note: I realize Martinsville left a bad taste for many because of the late caution but Gordons late race stalking and setting up Johnson still was classic stuff

DAMN! Failed to add Watkins Glen and Sonoma. For thrills, chills and pure excitement, Montreal.
Road courses put NASCAR drivers to the test.

Revised list (not necessarily in this order):
Martinsville
Richmond
Watkins Glen
Sonoma
Montreal (yeh! I know, it is a Nationwide race!)

8.75 is The judges final Compositized Scorecard

-The actual racing judges scorecard =9.5. Good subplots. Edwards needing a win badly, and he made a spirited effort, he ran the high line well and got everything he had out of the tires (I love it when the possibility of using up the tires is an issue, much more entertaining than fuel management imo) I like the high line or groove at Bristol.

Not a big Hamlin fan but he drove a good race, and Edwards made him work late. They roughed each other up a little good stuff within acceptable limits, and it looks like you can do some slight bumping and recovery on this configuration. Vickers also had a good save late as well.

The Gordon/ Kyle dual for the WC wasn't very flashy, but good workmanship by both to get what at they could. A dual now imo, Newman's wreck was devastating to his chances imo, I don't see him winning one of the last two.

Good performance by Danica this weekend. Bristol has to be an intimidating place for someone without much cup experience. She drove smart, and had decent speed. Good job in the NWS race, kept the sheet metal clean and dug in the last few laps to get a good finish.
We had a thrown helmet that's a plus.

-Nicole Brisco's Bristol pre race leg show =10 on the judges scorecards.

There will be a 1 point deduction on the final scorecard because there was no cat fight between the drivers wives, or cat fighting among the worthy female fans.
