Rate The Race: Charlotte II

7 , weird day though. Chasers dropping like flies and Kyle Busch giving an interview without winning, and happy too.

Decent racing but too many cautions. I think the race being run during the day helped create more passing.

Same old same old . Easy track with plenty of cautions to keep the field bunched up equals exciting race . Tough track with few cautions keeping the field spread out equals boring race.

A lot of mistakes of pit road. It looks like the 48 is back. And the problems for many of the chasers makes me think any track can mix things up like Dega.

A typical cookie cutter that didn't seem to have much passing and clean air meant a lot.

Great race. Could have been much worse for my guys.

9. Lots of side-by-side racing. That ten lap four car shootout for the lead mid race was the best racing in weeks.

I caught the first 250 before I had to go. Really good racing mid race. I'll give it an 8.

8 Even though 48 won I still enjoyed the race and was able to stay awake the whole race.

7, not a fan of racing at charlotte, but it was interesting to see a lot of the chasers get caught up in some kind of trouble.

Just watched the replay after spending yesterday watching football. This was as close to an ideal playoff race as I've seen, so I give it a 9.25. Reliability issues for the top drivers really made this an endurance race deserving of 500 miles. The tires surprisingly fell off over a run, forcing teams down pit road when they otherwise wouldn't come. Chase contenders were racing each other hard and risking contact to get ahead, and unfortunately it cost the 3 and 24.The race had a "money stop" to setup the run to the end, but sadly the 20 couldn't hang with the 48 or it would have been even better. Oh yeah, and that 4 car duel for the lead around lap 175 was a classic.

All of you complaining about "too many cautions" or whatever BS excuse to hate this sport need to have your head examined. It's just a real shame that a race like this couldn't be run last night on primetime TV and in front of more spectators.

An excellent post. You can hate the chase, or love it, or just accept that it exists, but you cannot deny that this race had championship drama with five chase contenders falling far behind the other seven.

I'll accept your rating but deduct 1.0 for the "Clean Air Is King" effect, so my rating is 8.25. I'm looking forward to even lower downforce and less rear skew in 2017.

I was really surprised at the small crowd as I figured most of the people could have made it back for Sunday unless it was going to be a relatively small crowd Saturday night anyway. Regarding cautions many people like myself say they enjoy as many green flag laps as possible but understand there will be times when the caution flies. The problem people have with cautions is when they are gratuitous.
