Rate The Race: Charlotte II

An excellent post. You can hate the chase, or love it, or just accept that it exists, but you cannot deny that this race had championship drama with five chase contenders falling far behind the other seven.

I'll accept your rating but deduct 1.0 for the "Clean Air Is King" effect, so my rating is 8.25. I'm looking forward to even lower downforce and less rear skew in 2017.

No lottery drama here but the result of many of the lottery's participants having misfortune at Charlotte could lead to heretofore unknown lunacy at Talladega which is a shame.

I was really surprised at the small crowd as I figured most of the people could have made it back for Sunday unless it was going to be a relatively small crowd Saturday night anyway. Regarding cautions many people like myself say they enjoy as many green flag laps as possible but understand there will be times when the caution flies. The problem people have with cautions is when they are gratuitous.
There's no way for us to tell how many ticket holders were from areas affected by Matthew. Those folks wouldn't have been in attendance had the race gone off as scheduled Saturday anyway. I'm sure the SMI databases can break it down for the tickets they sold directly, but I doubt they'll release those numbers publicly.

No question there would have been some unused tickets. Sports leagues don't mind releasing attendance figures which include the good, bad and downright ugly but obviously anything regarding attendance and Nascar is a sensitive topic so I am sure as Nascar is concerned the less said the better.
