I love short track racing (Taylor's Version)
10 from the entertainment perspective. Everyone loves a good trainwreck.
Disappointing.
Rain tires? Not.

So maybe they should just switch to Smart cars when it rains?Like @FLRacingFan said in the race thread, they were more of an intermediate tire... Between that and the ridiculous power, clumsy cars, and the really bad conditions(even by road racing standards, that track got rough at times)... I feel like everyone-especially NASCAR handled the day pretty well.

Seriously, I would have preferred seeing a flat out road race race on a dry racing surface.
There was a race today?I think everyone loved today's race except for @BobbyFord.
10/10
8.5. I enjoy X standalones so we can see what these guys can do without Cuppers around. I liked seeing the various tire and fuel strategies play out. Yeah, too many caution laps, but nobody whined about those back when Bristol was 20% yellow laps.
STICK AND BALL ALERT.
I don't remember who pointed out that football played in the rain is still football. It's slower and sloppier, and the tactics shift to emphasize safer running plays over long passes. That by itself doesn't keep it from being fun to watch. Sure, you'd rather see it played on a 70-degree afternoon with no wind just enough overcast to keep the sun out of the players' eyes. But if your team is playing, an inch of rain an hour and 25 mph winds aren't going to drive you to watch CSPAN, and they aren't going to keep most ticket-holders away.
Same thing with this race. I too would have preferred it run in the dry, but that wasn't going to happen that day. There were plenty of people there, people who knew what the weather was going to be like but came anyway. People who have other racing options within a couple of hours, including Indy and Kentucky, so they didn't come because this was their only chance to see a race all year. Like those football fans, they understand they'll be getting a different product, not an optimal one but one that can still be entertaining.
I notice that many of the complaints about this race sound a lot like the ones I have with restrictor plate races - too random, too much out of the drivers' control, equipment not suited to the track conditions, etc. At least rain races aren't scheduled events multiple times a year. They're a work-around to run the event as scheduled for the benefit of those in attendance and the teams (who don't want to fund staying another day), and (to no small part) within the network TV window.
I still think yesterday's spins were a mask for debris cautions to bunch up the field.
When they hired Chitwood , I said oh oh. This was. Chitwood show for sure.10 like watching a Joey Chitwood show with all the spinning around in circles. Good advertisement for Rainx.
A 10 for sure! Great entertainment and was fun watching a bunch of the young guns run in those conditions. Hay, it was equal for all involved.
Not surprising tho. Old folks complain a ton.I think everyone loved today's race except for @BobbyFord.
Rain/Snow games for football are the best. Rain races for road course series are also the best. However....although the race was entertaining, I would have preferred a dry race. NASCAR just isn't suited to run in the rain, unlike football, F1, etc.Not surprising tho. Old folks complain a ton.
It was different and exciting. Not unlike a rain or snow game that has a drastic impact on a football game. And ya don't here football fans snivel and whine nonstop over that....
Agreed on suitability. I think we also agree something different is good every now and then.Rain/Snow games for football are the best. Rain races for road course series are also the best. For something different , we old folks prefer ladies wrestlin in mud . That gets us goin . For Nascar , we prefer racin to wreckin .Agreed on suitability. I think we also agree something different is good every now and then.
For most educated humans that is.
10. Best Nationwide race I have seen in a while. I wouldn't mind seeing a road race in the rain every year.
Didn't think it was that fast . Guess the cars picked up speed going off track .Heard one crew chief order his driver to hit deeper puddles to reduce the vision of the car behind . Great racin , I guessAverage speed was 53 mph
