RATE THE RACE: Phoenix I

I would give it a 7.5. I thought it was entertaining. The last long green run, with all the fuel mileage speculation got was only so so, but the G-W-C was fun.

As is the Fox hate, Roush hate, Edwards hate, Busch hate, restrictor plate hate, west coast race track hate, 1.5 mile track hate, Johnson hate (anyone but Johnson is just childish) and the chase hate. All of which some people feel is okay and in fact have a right to. The Danica hate is no different.
 
It was a good race but only seeing 2 out of the 12 lead changes be under green flag conditions kinda sucked. Passing for the lead still seems to be a huge issue to overcome. 10 of the lead changes occurred under caution. Pit exit would have been the place to sit. Pit out was key yesterday.

To the untrained eye this might not be obvious but if you take a car that is stuck in 19th place and they can't move up and you put them in second or third and they hold the spot that tells me passing is next to impossible. look at all the fast guys in the beginning of the race, mark martin and kahne for example once they got shuffled they were never a factor. I don't think the problem necessarily was passing the leader I think the problem was passing period back in the pack. I think the gen 6 car is a fail for the first 2 races.

Welcome to the forum hidesert cowboy . I don't think that there is any doubt that the gen 6 car has been and still is being overhyped . As with the COT car , it will be at least till the chase till the teams find a way to make it race well . Meanwhile the good teams will find a way to get it to the front .
 
look the danica stuff is totally annoying. look on jayski's site there is a post there dedicated to danica being alright after crash. ummm ok would this same post have been there if david ragen hit the wall, what about dave blaney, ok lets say even jimmie johnson?? no it would not be there. look at all the coverage during the race ask yourself are they spending that much time talking about any other 25th place car?? This has to be annoying to other teams and their sponsors because its taking race coverage away from them. lets also look at the race coverage itself which Fox has always been my favorite but if you think about it they covered the top 5 cars well and danica, but did we hear much about cars cracking the top 10 or about other cars running in the top 15?? no. I am sick of the danica coverage the daytona 500 broadcast was so annoying about it I just about turned it off. Its puzzeling why this sport seems so hell bent on trying to make a square peg fit a round hole. its ok that women aren't going to be the racers that women are. why can't that just be ok to people?? women do other things better than I ever could. Danica's year will be like this, she will have half a dozen lead lap finishes maybe a top 10 on another plate track, but other than that I don't see her being much better than a top 25 car every week. this isn't going to change.
 
If the hype doesn't kill Danica, ahe'll get better and better at a slower than normal pace. She does have some talent, but unlearning the open wheel stuff is going to hold her back.
 
I don't give numbers, but I thought it was a pretty good race. As far as no passing? Hamlin started in the back, finished third with a bonzai pass on the last lap.
 
I thought it was pretty good considering. Goodyear was guessing with the tire compounds, so they went conservative(hard). The finish was great, Johnson could hardly talk after the race, his adrenalin was up there and he was shaking, and having a hard time pulling it together. A lot of drivers were complaining about not being able to pass, Hamlin was one of the loudest, but he started in the back of the pack, and passed his way to third?(what driver doesn't complain about hard to pass...the one in first place.) Pit stops and racing strategy were also important. The whole racing team was involved in the win. All in all, for the first track without very little information to go by, Nascar et al, put on a good race. 8/10 for me

She's a draw for women.. Nascar is a business in to make money. She has cross appeal because she's attractive (Probably even more if she was hotter..) and is a a decent racer. The Daytona 500 had an increase in viewers because of her. FACT. Not only that, but you know who else gets way too much focus and has never won the title or even really came close? Dale JR. He gets so much press BUT he has a huge fanbase. You bring in viewers, you're gonna be talked about.

FTR, I don't even like Danica just the way it is and it's only gonna worse for you if she wins.
 
Some people say cars pulling over to let others by "passing"? I don't.That's most of what I saw?

Okay , the gen 6 car was overhyped and Danica is overhyped . Both are going to get better . Both are part of the sport for the forseeable future .

Yes, there would've been posts about it if any other driver had taken the shot Danica took. It was a violent wreck.
