Rate The Race: Richmond 2

8

Finish is a 42 tho, obviously

8. Half a point taken off the bull**** ending, but there is no reason to be mad over it. I'II still turn in next week happy as ever since it's race day

7.W

"W" as in Weird but entertaining.

Richmond seems to have persistent Cone Zone Problem -- too much nonsense for such a small thing...

It was mildly exciting for strange and dumb reasons. I'll give it a 6.5

8, I don't like it that Indy will be the deciding race next year. Maybe if they moved Indy to IRP.

4. Somehow Richmond has managed to turn itself into dull race that emulates some of the boring 1.5 mile tracks.

6. This race used to be a lot more exciting when it was the cutoff for 10 drivers in the orginal Chase format which began in 2004. I hated the gimmick but it sure was exciting, the pressure those teams had...

Richmond used to be one of the 3 tracks including Martinsville and Bristol that were must see to me. Martinsville still is, Bristol is OK but different from all the years I attended and Richmond has turned into a dead dog for my unfortunately. I gave the race a 4 but that was OK as I gave the Georgia-Notre Dame game a 10.

I'd like to eventually go to all 3, I am a fan of the short tracks

Its rare to even simulate a good race at Richmond to be honest, for anyone who has ever touched those things...Even though that's a entertainment platform lol... still I've rarely seen super exciting full races from the track in anyway shape or form. Sure there can be the odd race here and there, but to me RIR always works like a race at an intermediate 1.5 track.

Did you attend races at the old Richmond fairgrounds? Did it race more like a short track? I always thought Richmond raced more like a 1.5 mile oval with the multiple groves and ability to find a different racing line more so than Bristol before the repave or Martinsville

7.0 @#)*&%+)(!!@#@#@#)*&^% dumbassed cautions!!!!! Which driver farted to cause NASCAR to throw a caution?

The 78 and 42 showed why they are the top two teams this season. I was disappointed with the Ambulance deal. And I was disappointed with the late caution that stole the race from Truex. I am impressed that the top two teams of the regular season are smaller teams.

The old Richmond was great as was the old Atlanta. It is unfortunate that those tracks were changed in part to accommodate fans that no longer show up to either track.

8.75. The best short track racing of the year... multiple grooves, passing on the inside, passing on the top, plenty of side x side racing throughout the field, tire fall off with comers and goers. Richmond Raceway and the current low downforce cars are a perfect match for each other IMO. I am astonished to read all these low scores... makes me wonder what people want to see in automobile racing.

The ambulance debacle was bad. The late caution was OK... car in the wall in front of heavy traffic will get a caution on lap 50 or 150, so it should get the same at lap 395.

#1 bummer: my guy Kez got clobbered by the 41 on the last restart, knocked from 3rd to 11th. Boo.

#2 bummer: all the Truex hate on here. I'm not a MTJ fan, but all the Truex hate here is a clear sign he has become an elite driver. He's created a lot of jealousy IMO.

The drama of the NASCAR playoffs has greatly enhanced the fall Richmond race. The cautions were very legitimate, as all NASCAR cautions are.

You could flip the coin and say "I am astonished to read all these high scores... makes me wonder if people will watch anything called automobile racing."

I have no argument with anyone that enjoyed the race or thought it was lacking as I see it as different strokes for different folks.

That is pretty vague. Specifically, what was lacking for you, other than a clear and present danger of death or serious injuries to make it exciting?

I'll go with a 6. One point deducted for the BS caution. The finish was not taken into account, as I quit watching after the BS caution.

The race was decent, and had some good battles and pit strategy thrown in.

I didn't think the race was terrible but there just wasn't anything I found compelling about it and apparently some others felt the same way too. I enjoyed the Georgia-Notre Dame game even though it was a sloppy affair as it was a close game with some great plays. As I said it is different strokes for different folks as the chase race at Talladega will be well attended and have a decent home audience but I am not a fan of plate racing. One thing I really don't like about plate racing is the unnecessary danger it puts the drivers, team members and fans in but I don't think it is much of an issue for many.
