RATE THE RACE: Richmond

The chain sometimes will get bound up. It runs from the rail to the axle tube and is used to keep the rear end from dropping to far and releasing the springs. When it gets bound up it restricts rear end movement.

Is this something that will translate easily to set-ups at other tracks ? Have they hit on something that will help them? Or did they just find something they did wrong at that race.

This is one time that I wish Tim Brewer was around with his cut away car to show us exactly what the 24 team did and why it helped so much.

the 24 team needs help, but I'm not sure Tim would be the right choice. his dentures are too loose to understand him over the radio.

Yes maybe Tim can explain to you why they don't have solid mounted rear ends and the handling issues it could cause.

Did you quote the right guy? ;)

Does this mean the chain wouldn't affect the side to side movement between the body and axel much, just the down travel of the axel?

When the chain is bound up it would be like having a bar welded from the frame to axle so it would affect all movement.

Tech done. No issues. 15, 24 cars back to R&D; 15, 24, 91 engines

What happens if removing the chain threw the 24 out of spec? It sure had a dramatic affect, so it's possible. Would NASCAR use a point penalty to boot Jeff from the chase?

If there were issues they would have failed post race. Taking the top cars and engines (along with a random) to the R&D Center happens after every single race.

Tow truck gate.

lol That Skunk war was going for a week or two. Bowyer, Richard, Denny, Kyle and Kevin all got tangled up over that. I enjoyed when they released the tape of the tow truck, and you could have held an egg between the bumpers and it wouldn't have broken.

Our FB passes up no and I mean NO chances to stir the pot, try to upset the masses and also give a couple of them sleepless nights until results come back from R&D.

I give it a 7 because the first half of the race was fairly ho-hum.
