I have never really been that excited about road courses. But, i really enjoyed both races this weekend.
Actually, my favorite races from the time i was a teenager until now is the left turn Indy 500. I just make my living on the no turn tracks. He's more of a no-turn guy
Great weather, great crowd, great racing.. 10
Yep, in San FranciscoWere you there? You're NorCal, no?
Yep, in San Francisco
You won't regret it Dun, it's a good time. I've had seats in pretty much every section over the last 12 years and there isn't a bad seat in the place. If you like vino you can parlay into a wine tasting tripAwesome. Still on my list of must-see tracks.. Seems like there are a lot of good vantage points with all the elevation.

I like turns 3-4 and 8a... The grandstands are pretty good too. Unless your sitting there it's worth bringing a seat cushion, the "seats" are actually concrete benches
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or just being a wanker. What the hell, man?
I think it has more to do with the set up on his car. There has been times where they hit it right and he goes to the front. I don't know what to say about his speeding on pit road though.Stewies drought behind the wheel is beyond the usual slow start we have all come to know and love. I'm getting to think that his wreck is in his head and it won't let go, I mean, how can you lose your fire and desire all in a matter of months?????????....

Junior did that for years, that is a complete driver error, all on him, he doesn't have his head in the race. Doesn't look good right now in the Stewart camp. That's what I'm talking about, twice this year he has screwed the pooch on pit road being caught speeding and costing himself big time. What in heck is he thinking about cause it sure doesn't seem to be racing????.........
There was a time I didn't like road courses but I've come to like them, I look forward to them now. I think road courses are the best test of a driver. Gordon still has it, I don't know why anyone would think he should retire. McMurray was up front all day, a good run for him. I figured if Gordon got to Edwards, Edwards migh make a mistake but he manages to keep his car mostly in shape. Passing on a road course is pretty cool, you can see a guy setting up several turns ahead of a pass. Some of the views of the track seemed new this year. I enjoyed the race.
I think he said as much in his interviews too. He still gave it hell and kept me on the edge of my seat.Gordon went wide in turn 4 with 4 laps to go. That one slip cost him .6 secs. As soon as it happened I feared that it could cost him the race.
That is awesome that you and your kid had a great time. Hospitality tents are nice. I hope they didn't screw up the dragstrip we have to race there in a few weeks. LOLBack from the race and watched it back on DVR.
One thing which just isnt able to translate on TV is the intensity of this race. During the long green flag runs there were a ton of heated battles. We were in the Save Mart hospitality tents in turn 11. Free food and drinks all damn day. Great vantage points of 11 and the pits.
A few notes.
- Why did the race coverage need to cover for JR on the wreck with Kenseth. He out drove his talent and forced the issue. It was totally wreckless.
- Jamie McMurray can flat out drive a road course.
- These cars were all over the place throughout the day. Slick race track made it very interesting.
- Danica just is not very good. She cannot race in traffic.
- Kyle Busch has a Sonoma curse going right now. He was complete garbage for the first half of the race and then they got the car working and he came charging through the field and then spins.
Overall this was a great day at the races. My kid was at his first cup race, he got pointed out by Clint Bowyer and his guy Jamie Mac and the crowd was pretty good plus we got out of the track in a timely fashion.
