Rate the Race: Sprint Cup @ Darlington

I gave it a 7. Darlington has never been and will never be a side-by-side racing kind of track. The drivers have to drive the track. I always like watching the drivers get around that place.

I know this ground has been covered before but perhaps it's time to award more points to the race winner.

couldn't hurt . . .

They already get more prize money to win , more race points to win , and more bonus chase points to win , and more cash at the banquet for finishing higher in points . There is really nothing that could make them try harder to win , because they are already trying as hard as they can . In fact , most of them would do this for nothing , because all they've ever dreamed about is winning . People that say they aren't trying to win aren't race fans. Just my opinion. Did you think that Kasey Kahne and Kyle Busch weren't going all out to win last weekend ?

people confuse taking what your car can give you, and saving your stuff with riding around. listening to the radio's, super tight, tight, wrecking loose etc, most of them aren't riding around.

Right on . Sometimes you have to watch a battle for 25th place to see how hard they are racing back in the pack . Sure they don't have a top ten car , but they want every spot they can get. That's racing.

I wish they would show more of the rest of the field. I have some back markers I do like to follow.
I punch up the leader board, you can see when a driver is moving up. also great for keeping track when the commercials are on. It increases the drama when I don't have to listen to somebody trying to sell me something. I don't use it, I watch the whole field, but it has a feature where you can pick certain drivers and there is a space there up top that you can zero in on their performance.

Not only am I a race fan, but I also enter a car in the local Rallycross. (SCCA) I would never expect anyone to be remotely entertained watching us race, but it's great fun when you are driving.

NASCAR can't just be about drivers trying hard to win. It also has to be entertaining to watch. Darlington is a very difficult track for the drivers, but difficulty doesn't translate to entertainment.

Agreed .Darlington is basically a one groove racetrack that isn't going to produce a lot of side by side racing . A lot of good cars made it from the back of the field to the front of the field . There was plenty of passing but not an awful lot of side by side racing. Vivre la differance . Point is , when they put the banking in Bristol to provide more side by side racing , a lot of folks wanted (and got ) the banking removed to get back to the good old days of one groove racing. What gives ?
