A lot less action (and I don't mean wrecks) than a typical Talladega race. Have to go with 6.
There are plenty of Ironhead fans here who will correct me if I'm wrong (again), but I recall reading that Sr. didn't actually like plate racing all that much.... Dale Sr. would roll in his grave over today's pathetic display.

I get the impression he didn't appreciate what it was in his day either. I never have.He didn't. But you can't tell me he would've appreciated what it's become in today's NASCAR
I can't believe some of the ratings on here. Y'all are entitled to yalls opinions. But some people just aren't watching the same races I feel like.
One person gave the race a 10 because there was no wreck.. lol
That race was not Talladega. Not even close. Dale Sr. would roll in his grave over today's pathetic display.
He voiced his dislike for it several times except when he won, which was more than several times. There are plenty of Ironhead fans here who will correct me if I'm wrong (again), but I recall reading that Sr. didn't actually like plate racing all that much.
Classic case of "don't hate the player, hate the game".When it was done in the past, the guys doing it would eventually attempt to get to the front late in the race.
This time, TV broadcast a conversation with the #18 team where they decided there was no reason to try advancing. The Gibbs boys apparently planned to stay there all the way through, with no intention of doing anything except protecting their Chase positions. I support their decision; they're in it for a championship. But the format is poorly designed when that has been demonstrated to be a successful strategy, not once but for three cars in the same race.

JGR cars running in back all day is racing?
Things like how much you like or dislike the driver that won are big as are how you felt, who you were with and how many times you farted for all I know.
I disagree with this. There were plenty of others trying to do what Kes did, but unable to do it. Kes drove an awesome race, totally imposed his will upon the field. The blown motor was a heart breaker. When Kes went down, the 22 was the best of the rest. I'll rate the race 7.5 for Keselowski's awesome display, and would have rated it higher if the 2 had won because he deserved it.Everybody drove like complete pansies except the 2 and the 22.
The 24 was certainly not in pansy mode today. Kurt also drove a fine race. Biffle as well prior to the wreck. There were some guys mixing it up.0
Worst Talladega race ive ever watched and I've been watching NASCAR for 25 years.
Everybody drove like complete pansies except the 2 and the 22.
No passing for the lead. Single file, side drafting sand bagging **** fest
Been beatin' this drum forever. Brought this up to Jeff Gluck once as he was trying to qualify good racing and quantify the feelings of the fans. He wasn't having it.....and the beat goes on.
Hey, I can cry all the way to the bank too. I'm good at cleaning up computer users' mistakes, but it's one of the aspects of my job that I don't particularly like.He voiced his dislike for it several times except when he won, which was more than several times.
I'm easily entertained I guess. The race didn't have the outcome that I'd like to see but it kept my interest from start to finish. Personally, I don't know what the fans on here have to have to give them everything that they want in a race. Some kind of race utopia I guess.
I'm a fan of the restrictor plate races because to me, that restrictor plate is a huge equalizer. I like seeing all these teams having a shot at winning a race.
I suspect if there had been multiple overtimes and other teams had to pit for fuel, the Gibbs cars may have stayed out and come to the front to help Denny. On the other hand, since everyone else would have taken at least two tires, they may have been toast. In fairness...they probably had a plan for a "late charge" if needed - but once Truex blew up and there were other issues....there was simply no need.

Ditto. I don't want an equalizer, at least not in Cup. If someone wants to revive IROC, where the cars are intentionally prep'ed the same every week, great. I'll eat it up with a spoon. But don't intentionally handicap the cars for 11% of the season and try to sell it as an improvement. We all know why it's done, and it isn't to equalize the field. That's a side effect, like nausea.... I am not a fan of plate races for the reason you mentioned as you know something is seriously wrong when Brian Scott can finish in second place.
There will be the usual share of fans that harp on Martinsville's single groove, with the preferred inside line on restarts. That group usually gets pretty vocal. Me, I love the single inside line. Makes for very interesting restarts and races off of pit road.I think you will get your answer of what fans like to have in a race at Martinsville as it is the only track left that guarantees a good one. Spot on.There will be the usual share of fans that harp on Martinsville's single groove, with the preferred inside line on restarts. That group usually gets pretty vocal. Me, I love the single inside line. Makes for very interesting restarts and races off of pit road.
Brain Scott ran a great race most all day long. You only heard about him at the end because they never really talked about him throughout the event. He ran the majority of the race in the front half of the field for hours on end. He did that because he made smart moves and had a car that was for the most part equal to the other seats out there.
All of those guys did a great job yesterday running that close. Hats off to each and every one of them. I can't imagine doing that at those types of speeds.
It's not going to matter what position this race falls in during the Chase. It will always be an elimination race. We just may not realize it until the 3rd race in the segment is over.I give it a 9. I was out of my seat in front of the TV a lot. I didn't give it a 10 because not everyone was racing for the win. It should not be an elimination race. Make it the first race in a segment and there will be hard racing.

Hell, NASCAR is liable to change the rules, again, before Da….. uh, “‘Toner” ‘n the season starts. No tellin’ what part the place’ll play in next year's championship cluster.
I get what you're saying and I think that's the common view. I just don't think that it would be any different. I guess we'll all find out next season.I wasn't talking about the Chase overall. I was thinking about the segment. If it wasn't the last race of a segment, then I believe all the drivers still in this segment would try harder for the win.

According to the booth guys, nobody would work with him because he was pulling out of line at the wrong times. That whole experience thing, ya know.I'll give the 24 props. One of the few who had something to race for. Unfortunately nobody would work with him because they were content with running 16th.
