RATE THE RACE: Texas I

I had it for a long time as well. This year though, I dropped down to just the scanner to save a few bucks. I love having that option to listen to the drivers during the race even though the feeds aren't synced up. My DirecTV Fox feed has to be about 10 seconds or so off of the scanner feed. It's also about 10 seconds off of DirecTV's HotPass channels too. Weird.
If it was dvr compatible or recordable to sync up with the dvr I could come home from a race and enjoy it again. Spouse is a big fan also but says that I'm nuts. Go figure.

It was a 10 for me . Incredibly complicated for the crew chiefs , keeping up with the track changes with pretty much all green flag stops. No wrecks ,what 2 cautions?...nobody whining about them..Jimmy and Jeff came up through the field ,as did others. Rudi had a solid run ,should be locked into the top 35. Great to see Mark Martin and Truex running well. Even Kurt Busch had a great race. All of the crew chiefs deserve a big "atta boy' .
good post

i'll take a race like what went on at texas any day over the fabricated, phantom debris caution, excitement that nascar throws at us in order to keep the numb nuts fans in the crowd from tuning out

then, when a genuine, exciting race with continuous battles for the lead comes along, it makes it that much more enjoyable to watch

tv coverage could help dispel the perception that a texas type race is boring if they just quit showing the leaders all night and instead focused on some of the position racing that goes on back in the pack

although they told us after the fact that edwards made some late race passes for position, why the hell didn't they have a camera on him as it happened ?

The same people that have complained about phantom cautions when a race got boring are the same ones that are complaining about this one being caution free and running itself out. Man people like this is starting to make it embarrassing to say I am a NASCAR fan. Just gotta find something to nit pick at. Every race aint gonna be a barn burner.

I completely enjoyed the race despite the fact that a Ford won. :D

I honestly wish I could have been there.

My complaints are about the track configuration. Period. Texas rarely produces excitement, which is why the replay the Jeff vs Jeff cat fight and Kyle's finger salute so often.

I hope Brutons plans work and he teaches ISC something they can use to make the racing better at their tracks.

Or maybe lay off the fukking donuts. The fatboy is gonna have to wait for win # 200. Jimmie falls apart (as we saw) if he isn't in clean air.
he may be fat,but fat people can go on a diet, ugly people just uglyer like the cat in the hat.

I wonder how many people actually enjoyed it because Jimmie didn't win or because Biffle did.

I don't enjoy races where every single car is seperated by 3-12 seconds and you can count how many on track passes for position there are.

Great post, how long have you been on this forum?
not sure..is that :sarcasm: but March 17th

And for Andy this is turning into a good race but I do understand the different tracks and enjoy most of them for what they are

No sracasm, I liked the post and was just wondering how long it took you to figure Andy out.

I give it a seven, I liked the beat.
As I posted before I enjoy the science behind finding the balance for the best car possible. I don't mind some scraping and bumping but the thing I never liked was seeing people almost get killed. To each his own. I watch any and all racing so maybe I'm not a pure Nascar Fan.

Good points all , Jimi , You gotta enjoy a race where the best car wins . There are plenty of races with green, white , checkers , when the best cars don't even make the finish . The crew chief and crew were essential to the win as well as the car control of the driver . Just stating a laundry list of things that you think should be changed , doesn't make one a 'pure Nascar Fan' , but enjoying the racing sure as heck does. Good for you.

For Biffle winning, a 10. For the lack of Nascar's fake phantom cautions, a 10. For the car-shyster being denied again, a 10. For Andy being displeased, a 10.

For the actual racing...oh, about a 6.

This Comment rates a 10!

Andy, why do you even watch NA$$CAR?

The race would get a 9. 200-plus caution-free laps? FABULOUS!!!

I don't like how when somebody calls the texas race boring, they are all of a sudden a guy who just likes to see wrecks and re-starts. NOT TRUE.

It's just their opinion. That's all.

I guess we sometimes feel everyone else should share our opinion or there's something wrong with them  Screwy, I know, but true.

It's not like we're all married to one another here ;)

Nothing wrong with your opinion .You just don't like caution free races ,where the only person who can win is the guy with the fastest car. There are those who don't like wreckfests . Those who don't like road courses. Those who don't like restrictor plate races. Some who don't like short tracks . There were some who didn't like racing in Japan. Hell , Andy doesn't like any of em. But .thankfully , on this forum , there are five or six diehard Nascar fans who like them all.

Cepting for the destructor plate races, I do like them all! Well said, Ted!
