Is Reed Sorenson the best of the new youngsters?
Very smooth, very racy and well-spoken. I think ths kid's got a bright future.
Will he replace Marlin in the 40?

I really like this kid! As for him taking over Sterling's ride, I'm not sure he can unless there is another sponsor on the car. Since Reed is only 19, he wouldn't be allowed to run the Coors Light sponsored car. I really feel that he should stay in Busch for another year, but that's just my opinion. ;)

I agree...one more year in Busch.

And having said that possibly tow.

Love the kid. He is the real deal.

Been following him since TRL raved about him. She has a good eye for talent.

Maj good point about him being 19 and not being able to drive a beer sponsored car

this kid indeed has a bright future, but giving him a cup car i think is way too soon, like majestyx said he should stay aleast one more year at the bush series, and or he could run 1 or 2 races in the nextel cup series...sort of like martin truex jr

i think stremme will be in the 40 later this season...if they do bring up sorenson, which they shouldn't yet, he'd be in the 41, expect mears out as well...and I don't know what's going on with McMurray, but he's had some harsh words for his team recently, it may be all new faces on that team next year.

axl, you just might be on to something there. I do remember hearing Stremme's name as a possible replacement in the Coors Light Dodge.

Ya know, that whole Ganassi garage could be up in the air soon, and wouldn't that be a good silly season subject? Of all the drivers in that stable, I believe that Chip would be more likely to keep Mears, simply because he believes there is some great potential there. Sterling, while a good anchor driver, is over the hill and Chip knows that when he picks a younster to bring up, that is the car that is most likely to have a seat. Jamie, while he appears to be the next top dog in that garage, is just too iffy. He's ready to jump ship if the right offer comes along, but yet his best day seem to be behind him. Personally, I think that Jamie should become the next anchor, and probably is at this point anyway, and that Chip should do all he can to resign him. I also believe that Casey can be a winner as well, but when it comes to produce or get out, Casey is just another of the newbies that hasn't yet won.

There is one thing that we could be overlooking and that is switching cars for the drivers. Chip could put Casey in the #40 and that would free up Reed for the Target car. Then again David Stremme could be signed for the #42 car, Jamie could then move to the Coors car and Casey could stay where he is. Hmmmm, wondering minds would like to know. :)

From what I've seen so far, Sorenson is definitely one of the best youngsters out there.

You've put some thought into this haven't ya. :) I really like Marlin and hate to see him leave the #40, but he really hasn't done anything since that wreck in 2002. It will be interesting to see what Ganassi does with his team this year.

Hey DeeDee, how are ya? Long time not talk to. So ya like Sterling huh? I wonder though, is it because ... nah, it couldn't be.

I'm doing great Buck! Thanks for asking. Yes I like Marlin and why do you think that is? ;)

Another question on the subject... isn't Ganassi going to switch to Toyota next year? If so ya think that will have anything to do with who Ganassi picks as replacement(s)?

McMurray made the comment after the Busch race that he learned his Busch car runs better than his Cup car....this is from nascar.com...that would be a stab at Ganassi and a heads up to Rusty...were I Ganassi, I would boot his highlighted ass out of that 42 car quicker than you can say hair gel. We have seen that any one of those Ganassi cars can run up front in any kind of race at any time...I really have to believe it is the talent that needs the help. Sterling is fine, but you're right, since that wreck, he hasn't been up there. Mears just needs more time, have him run some Busch races for FitzBradshaw, Get McMurray the heck out of there, he doesn't want to be there and I think he should get to flounder for awhile to learn to appreciate what he has and then Papa Rusty can bail him out.

I've been watching Reed since he was 13 -- kicking butt and taking names in Legends cars.

I just hope he is allowed to learn his craft and get plenty of seat time before being tossed into the maelstrom known as Cup racing.

Why do you think McMurray makes those comments? He has 1 year left on his contract and he wants out. He wants Rusty's ride. It's a shame Chip couldn't put him driving go karts or something the rest of his contract and then let him try and break back into Cup. Ungrateful little...

Dee, I don't see Toyota in the Cup series for at least a couple more years at best. They will more than likely start with Busch cars first, but that's just a complete guess. I know that rumors have been floating around that Toyota would be in the Cup series in 2006, but according to Toyota that isn't the case. They stated that they haven't set a timetable to enter the Busch/Cup series.

Coors is gone from the 40 next year.

Both Sterling and Coors contracts are up at the end of the year. Haven't heard if Coors is gonna re-up or not. :beerbang:
