Renshaw given an ARCA ride

Renshaw given an ARCA ride because she supposedly was discriminated Against and now look what happens. Just proves my point that people need to earn their way into this sport!

Too bad that someone had to pay the ultimate price because of this crap!

This statement is 100% true regardless of what you all want to say! Period. End of story!

I'm not trying to degrade women or any race at all. I would be just as ticked if someone like Dale Jr would have done something that ridiculous on the track. I thought Nascar had standards in place to prevent rookies from running in the higher levels of racing!

They run on some nascar owned tracks which automatically makes Nascar somewhat Liable for what happens if the event is at one of their tracks (Charlotte (Lowes) isn't owned by Nascar)

This Country is run through Lawsuits in today's day and age! If something happens on your land and you are worth some dough you are probably going to be sued!

thats rediculous what is nascar gonna be riliable for indy now

This thread didn't have much to do with nascar. Its all about Earning your way up through the ranks and learning the do's and don'ts and getting more and more experience so that when you do get a chance at running with the big boys you won't hurt anyone in the process.

Just like flying airplanes. Its very similar. Learn on the small stuff and move up to bigger and faster and one day hopefully you make it too the top!

The next time you fly on an airliner do you want your pilot to have only flown small cessna type aircraft or do you want them to have experience in that type of aircraft???????????

Im not into arca but isnt arca kind of a amatuer series??? people come from arca to enter busch If I am wrong please correct me I dont follow arca at all.

ARCA is just a series that races similar cars as NASCAR. A lot of Busch drivers move up from ARCA.

It's a completely different series altogether Busch is a stepping stone for Cup.

ARCA has nothing to do with NASCAR at all.

what I mean is paul its not what most drivers goals are set on, flyboy makes it out like there the cream of the crop, like drivers should work there whole lives the reach the arca level.

Yes indeed ARCA has provided a stepping stone to WC. Mark Martin is a prime example of an ARCA champion honing his skills and moving on up.

It may be a separate series, but it gives drivers a chance to shine and to be noticed by NASCAR owners.

Benny Parsons came from ARCA too.

But to just consider it a "stepping stone to Cup" doesn't give those guys the credit they deserve. The purses in ARCA are nothing to sneeze at.

credit everywhere I go people dont give pit crews enough credit its always about the driver "that guy showed he could do this and that" etc etc. the pit crews deserve alot more respect then they get now

Just look at todays race comments you have like 1 out every 10 post mentioning the whole team, most are congrats to mcmurray he showed em etc etc etc.

sorry for changing the subject but that has always anoyed me

Very true, Paul. Many drivers are doing very well in ARCA and are quite comfortable there. I certainly do not demean their accomplishments.

Smack, so true about the crews. They don't get enough credit for their contributions to the team. The driver wouldn't get very far if the crew wasn't there.

I'm hoping to figure out how a person is going to get experience going 180 if they don't go 180. Scratching my head here cause I know dern well if I could figure this out I could open a training school for drivers and they would all be expert drivers before they even got to the track

The point is: they took this local late model chick that couldnt win a race at the local level and just threw her in a car at Charlotte because she was apparently discriminated against. She should have done more testing by herself and she should have learned the rules (like a yellow flag means slow down) before they let her drive on the track with other cars !

Sure everyone has that first time they get to drive 180 MPH but the majority of them have been accomplished drivers at whatever series they were racing in first!

There is driver schools where you can go and run at these tracks. Who knows if she had completed one of these before they let her out there with other competitors. Heck, you cant even go to a motorcycle track days event without going through a school beforehand!

It seems like you people just want to blow this ARCA crash under the rug and pretend that it never happened. Well, it did happen and it needs to be investigated and they need to come up with some solutions for the future. No doubt the spotter rule is a good thing. :satisfied

She has placed well in the Arca races she has been in, I don't see why she doesn't deserve a ride.

I agree she is a very talented person! She is very smart (and not bad looking either might I add). Bob Schac(sp) is a vetran car owner and driver in the ARCA seris so he knows what he is doing, Just like when he saw a bright star in Blaise Alexander, he saw the same thing inher. Just a little FYI Renshaw all ready had the ARCA plans laided out with the 75 team befor that whole dicrimination thing took place.
I agree there was some problem that day that we may or may not know about. I have seen the video, (Have any of you seen it that are bashing her?) From everything I have seen and heard from ARCA, Deb, the 75 team, and all the other drivers this is what i conclude.

Eric Spun do to an enigne problem. ALL 4 tires were up after he got done spinning. So that means there must have been oil on the track. Bob Schac did not see the spin bc he was watching Deb runn and was following her around the track once he realized there was a car in the track he did tell her but it was about the time she was in the middle of 4 traveling around 180 mph. Once she saw the car and heard bob she put the brakes on and hit the oil and could not turn or stop. She slowed down to 160 mph while sliding on the oil. To me it looked like she was trying to aim at the wall and hit the wall first but unforuantly she did not and we all know the result.

i think alot of these comments i have heard from message boards and even from my home have been sexist, i am saying that as a guy. I think if she was male yes we would be hearing about this situation but not as much as we still are. This was just a very bad and tragic racing accident.

Nascar has steped up and mandated all spotters have to be in the spotters stands befor the cars can take the track at all times. I belive when ARCA and most of the other oval seris will mandate the same thing NASCAR has. I know ARCA is looking into the accident and they will do what ever they can to prevent anything like this happing again.

SO here is to a speedy recovery and hope to see Deb in that #54 BGN car at Daytona in 2003,Mr.Goodwin said it will be waiting.

Also my Prayers are still with the Martin family.

thats just my $.02 worth,so I am stepping off the soap box

Use some common sense. This is not a sexist thread at all.

Again you just want to keep this wreck hush hush and not bring it out for what it actually is!

When you put someone in a position they are not use to this is the kinda stuff that can happen. Its bogus to put someone in a car due to color, creed, nationality, etc. It should be based on merit only and not any of this stuff.

"Again you just want to keep this wreck hush hush and not bring it out for what it actually is!"

The wreck was an accident- it could have happened to any driver no matter what their skill level.....

The track was covered in Martin's oil and water, the drivers first behind Martin avoided the accident because they saw it happening and went low....

Renshaw was the first driver to come around turn 3 blind 8 seconds later without anymore warning than maybe a yellow light, didn't know whether to go high or low, hit the oil and water losing control....

So to blame this accident on lack of experience is simply inexcusable.....

Whatever

If you don't want to except the truth then oh well, stuff like this will continue to happen!

Whatever.....you have your mind made up, and I guess you are the smarter one here, so we'll just sit back and let you make the boneheaded statements that you are making. I don't see that anyone is trying "sweep" ANYTHING under the rug regarding this accident. You need to just wait and see what the investigation shows before you make such statements as to FAULT!! BTW, if I have correctly and intelligently read the articles that have been written on this, the two cars that passed low on the track as he was wrecking, there was fluid on the track. I don't care how fast you are going, if you hit oil and/or water on the track you are NOT going to be able to control your car. My $.02 worth.

PettyBenson, I agree with your assessment of the situation and apparantly so does ARCA. The wreck was NOT anyone's fault and pointing fingers is wrong.

Flyboy, get over yourself!!! If you're such an expert why aren't you working for ARCA or NASCAR?

It was the exact same situation when Greg Biffle ran into to Jeff Purvis, except that Purvis lived( just barely though) and I don't remember anybody bashing Biffle. And I would say that Biffle has experience and there was nothing could be done to prevent it.
And the same could be said about every other accident in racing

It seems to me as much as you say this is not a racist thread I think it really is.

just my .02 cents worth.

So what you all are telling me is that 8 seconds isnt enough time to avoid a pile of oil????????? Thats a bunch of BS

Merit? Interesting thing merit. What constitutes it, what doesn't.

But the proof of merit is in the ride. A person that doesn't merit a ride doesn't get one. A person that does, does. Doesn't matter what I think, I'm not footing the bill. Doesn't matter what you think either. Yer not passing out racecars..:p

Some folks merit a ride because they've got a half million bucks to spend. Others merit a ride because they've changed tires for the last 10 years and the boss thought it was time to let em have a go at driving. Others merit a ride because they spent the last year and half out back building a car from the ground up with hopes of making just one race.

Renshaw merits her ride no question. She's got it doesn't she? And it's waiting for her at Daytona 2003. I hope she's well enuf to take it.

Hmmmmmm Well thats your opinion but certainly not mine. If you log on to her websight at Deborahrenshaw.com you will find that it doesnt mention anything about her even winning one race at her home track or anywhere else for that matter. She has gone through several driving schools and she has raced in 4 ARCA events this season.

My main point is that A man with her qualifications would have never had these same opportunites unless they were either rich or had family in the business. And it is these people who maybe shouldnt be out there because they don't have enough experience to run one of these cars at speeds approaching 200 MPH (unless they are out there by themselves)

Flyboy, are you saying that Renshaw was given her ride as a result of affirmative action?

If so, I'd like to take advantage of such a program. Heck, I could be driving for DEI in two or three short years. ;)

You know what? I think your right. You probably could do that if you really wanted. I do know for sure that you could get a pilots liscense and move up the ladder very quickly as well in that line of work too.

Sometimes it pays to be a woman :D

Abooja

Would you want to drive for DEI because its a good team or because you would get to be with JR on a daily basis???

;)
