Report: Logano to Penske

Penske still considering Hornish for #22 ride UPDATE: NASCAR team owner Roger Penske said Sam Hornish Jr. will have a place in his driver lineup in 2013. But whether that is in Penske's much-discussed #22 car in Sprint Cup, in a third Cup car or in a Nationwide Series car has yet to be determined. "At the end of the day, no matter how we end up, Sam's going to have a ride with us in 2013," Penske told USA TODAY Sports before Sunday's Izod IndyCar Series race in downtown Baltimore. Sunday night's Advocare 500 will mark Hornish's eighth Cup race in the #22 since A.J. Allmendinger was removed (and subsequently fired) for a positive drug test. Hornish has produced a best Cup finish of fifth at Watkins Glen International while continuing his quest toward a Nationwide championship in Penske's No. 12 (he ranks third in the standings). "He's getting better and better. He's got a lot more confidence," Penske said. "I think he's getting more respect on the racetrack, which you need. He's done a great job, coming in like he has." Joey Logano has been rumored to be the leading candidate for the #22, and Penske has said he'd like to announce something before the Chase for the Sprint Cup opener Sept. 16 at Chicagoland Speedway. "We're close," he said Sunday.(USA Today)(9-3-2012)
UPDATE: Joey Logano, who has spent his entire NASCAR career with Joe Gibbs Racing and has six Nationwide wins and one in Sprint Cup this season, will move to Penske Racing to drive its #22 Ford in 2013. An official announcement of Logano's move to Penske could come as early as Tuesday as well, multiple sources confirmed. A request for comment from Penske Racing was not returned Monday.(Charlotte Observer)(9-4-2012)

either way Sam will be with Penske next year

Starts out in the Home Depot car, gets just 2 wins in 4 years, then jumps in the Pennzoil car. Joey is one lucky sumabitch.
Ive said this before, square peg meet round hole, round hole meet square peg.

Horrible move if you ask me. well good thing is looks like Hornish will move to a 3rd cup car in 2013 so they can make room for both Kes and JLo to get their NNS fix.

With just 18 more starts than Sam Hornish (118 starts), Joey Logano (136 starts) has 2 more wins, 13 more top 5's and 28 more top 10's. I agree that Logano was rushed to Cup and hasn't lived up to the hype, but at 22 years old he's got a lot of time to do it and I think being at Penske with Brad as his teammate is gonna help him, not hurt him.

I think it's a great move by Roger. Joey is a talented driver, and now I think he'll start growing up and getting results. Brads work ethic has been complimented by many in the garage, and that should rub off on Logano.

Geniuses think alike. :D

Honestly , I don't see Joey being much help to Brad . More like he is a project for Brad to bring along . We'll see how Brad does .Gibbs picked up big time help for it's other two drivers. Their roster that they bring to the table with potentential sponsors is starting to rival the Hendrick line up.

Well Kyle Busch really came up with better results when he left Hendrick Motor Sports (except for this year). Maybe we see him perform now?I do feel bad for Sam Hornish though!

Cut the crap, FB, you just wanted Logano so Bad Brad would be top dog. :D

But not if it was KuBu newman or Kenseth which was possible and bandied about by everybody 3 weeks ago.

Kenseth was a pipe dream for Ford fans, KuBu was never a possibility, and if Newman did return to Penske he would still be second fiddle to Brad.

For a guy shooting everybody a double bird you sure do think you know everything, must be nice to always be right.

seriously what is your obsession with my avatar???? by the way I am not shooting the double bird, Wil Power is!!!

besides what makes your opinion anymore wrong than mine?? ;)
I say opinion and you say that this is the way it is, there is a difference.

So Hornish will finish season in 22. In 2013 he will run full NNS Season with partial Cup schedule.

Can't wait for Logano to fall on his ass in the 22.

The Will Power double bird.... one of the greatest moments in IndyCar history.
That may be one of the reasons only drivers family, friends, crews, sponsors and about 12 people show up at most of their races.

Can you post a link?
