Richmond Cup Thread

He could stay home and stay in the points lead. Psh
he pretty much has a full race lead on the closest pack..bet they do the ol practice run by themselves at Dega. If he isn't on the front row, he probably will go to the back and ride

My first pick in the fantasy league was Harvick and I switched him out for Stewart :( I still picked up seven spots so not all is lost - thanks Bowyer :)

Anyway, congrats to little yap yap mouth.

The spring Richmond race's attendance was terrible last year!

Hear that? It's Rockingham knocking.

I was at the track Friday and Saturday night.....I've never seen it so empty. For the Nationwide race, the track officials had the general admission seats and reserve seats divided in every section. The general admission seats were about halfway up the section and reserve seats were up high.

the press on speed is trying to make out like everybody is mad at Kurt. Hope he doesn't bite
I was impressed when he was asked what happened with Tony and said we'll get to that in a minute and started talking about how good his team did and all that. Two years ago they probably would have fought right on pit road. That's a good sign for Kurt's reputation/career. He just needs to keep acting like that and the drama behind him will stay there.

yep, you got that right. But the other drivers can say anything about him..that's ok and the press love it. Not a word about Tony being in the way on old tires.

I think he finally gets it now. You only get so many chances and he seems like he really wants to make the most of this one.

Yea for sure. He knows he has to though. It's the name of the game. Just another budding feud for the media to fill 3 hours of NASCAR RaceDay.

Side note.. the middle of this race was sooooo boooooring that when they went through the pack I think they went up to like 27th before Brad Keselowski saved them by pitting with some issue lol

You might try looking at the leader board on Nascar .com if you have a bigger screen. I had the TV on and I could watch the lap times on the comp at the same time. You can watch drivers who are moving to the front that they aren't talking about until they get up front, and it is fantastic when they are running commercials. they didn't say a thing about Carl or Joey when they were making their runs to the front until they arrived.

I don't know how I can keep making fun of Sliced Bread and SlicedBread22 if Logano keeps posting these top 5s!
I don't think I made fun of Joey, but I was getting tired of all the posts and I think so were a lot of members. I'm over it now, sliced bread has calmed down a bit it seems and Joey is doing well despite the illegal car pieces the crew though was a "good idea".o_O

I also cannot find anything bad to say about Joey. LOL Yeah I've been toning it down a bit... But I would like to throw this in there... 3 top 5's in 5 races.. only Joey and Kyle Busch have done that. :) Also beat the top 5 total of the 20 and 22 teams in 2012. So far so good :)

I do sometimes.

that's just fine breadcrumbs..but ol JJ is at least a full race ahead of everybody right now, like they say, you got to beat the 48 and the closest are 43 points behind. They aren't saying much about that in the press, but that is a huge lead this soon in the season. Not a statistician, but Johnson could probably average a top ten finish with the lead he has and finish in the chase. Good fight for second though, three drivers within three points of each other. Joey has to make almost a whole race points 43 to even get into the top ten, so I wouldn't start doing any back flips. He did get three positions this week and if he keeps it up he should climb up into the chase area before the end of the season.

I know I can't believe how much of a lead JJ has already, just one bad race and itll even out though. Impressive nonetheless. I'm not doing backflips, just looking good so far. I'm not thinking Joey will make a run at the championship this year at all really. I'm just hoping he can make a good run at his first chase. Like you said he's lookin good if he can keep it up. Coming into a string of races I wouldn't put past him to win at any of them from now until after Michigan. Dega, Darlington, Charlotte, Dover, Pocono, Michigan... all good tracks Im looking forward to. I wont throw stats around bc I don't wana type much more right now but its lookin good.

Don't worry The Chase will reset the point and then the other drivers will have ten races to beat Jimmie Johnson. :p

That's the way I look at it. The chase makes the amount of the points lead at this point inevitable. Top 5's and 10's could have him in 3rd or 4th behind a couple guys but he could go and get a few more wins. Either way it will be mostly inevitable come chase time. Still impressive. Hopefully he doesn't have the same lead 9 races into the chase.

I have a gut feeling that Johnson is going to win #6 this year, of course I say that every year. *laughs*

LOL I wouldn't put it past him. There's only been like 1 year in the past 8 that he hasn't had a shot at it at Homestead. If Kyle can put together a chase like he did last year this one might be his. That's the beauty of it you never know what'll happen.
