Translation: It's gonna rain.

Saturdays rain forecast for Richmond Va.
2am to 11am 20%
11am to 2pm 50%
2pm to 11pm 60%
Thats it.

NASCAR does have an innate ability to find rain in drought conditions.

Surprised tracks with open invitations to NASCAR didnt spring up all over the midwest this smmer

My plan is to crack my first adult beverage around 3pm this afternoon and start my anti rain dance. Who's with me?

Yeah, after looking at that I'm not planning on watching a race tonight so time to make other plans :)

Here in town, they were going to have a NASCAR watch party and I was going to have to go and take pictures. Lucky for me, it looks like I"m gonna get out of it. :)

It will not rain (much)...I have deemed it so and started to drink the "juice of pure weather".

Thus I have said...thus it will be

I think it's a matter of whether they think running it with football would lower their ratings or not. I think it's pretty obvious that it would hurt their ratings if they ran it tomorrow. It also would make those attending the race quite upset because then they wouldn't be able to watch the majority of football tomorrow.

The storms are fast moving. The storms are strong, but if NASCAR's patient, they will race tonight (late tonight).

Very cool but dry conditions behind these storms. They should be able to dry the track in an hour or so after the storms hit.

What's also in their favor is that fact that even if it doesn't start till nearly 9pm...it's still not super late there and with it being on the East coast, they wouldn't lose any of the viewers from the rest of the US.

If they can get it in tonight, run it tonight. The track will be full of fans that are there to watch this race tonight. It's not about the convenience of us at home.

Maybe no lessons about severe weather have been learned, but it seems silly to have people filling the stands just as it arrives. Perhaps telling fans in advance they will start at 10 pm is an option.

Richmond Raceway@RIRInsider: Be advised of possible inclement weather approaching #RVA. Fans encouraged 2 monitor weather & take necessary precaution 2 ensure safety"

OK, they've clearly done everything they can for fan safety.

The nasty weather is almost here. PLEASE everyone, seek cover. No sense taking chances.

Seems logical. (I wonder if there is a noise curfew) On the other maybe the track likes people hanging around and buying $4 hot dogs and $8 beers for a few extra hours.

If the fans don't know severe weather is coming, that's their own fault. I do not know what some of you armchair promoters expect the track to do. The fans need to take some responsibility from time to time. I always check the weather on race day -- and the weather in Richmond today said "SEVERE STORMS TONIGHT". If the fans aren't willing to take responsibility and pay attention to the, I don't know, dark skies, there's absolutely nothing the track can do.
