Ridiculous article

You know what? After actually reading this, I think quite a bit of if actually makes sense. Though there are parts that are ridiculous.

By the way, what does OEM stand for?

I didn't read the article yet but oem is original equipment manufacturer.

While I'll admit that not EVERYTHING Brian France has done has been bad, he has missed the mark on many issues since taking over, and still seems very out of touch with what the consensus of NASCAR fans want. Problem is that Brian believes his own bullsh!t, and this article is a good example of that.

“My grandfather was a bold leader, a consensus-builder,” France said." "consensus-builder"!!!

I don't know what he was like late 40s early 50s, but by the 60s France Sr was pretty much "My way or the highway!"

I did not read the article but I have read other stories where Brian France touts the strength of Nascar. On one hand you have the recent TV deals that indicate strength but on the other hand there are a myriad of issues that make you wonder where the series will be in 10 years.

He's delusional and needs to quit drugs.

LOL. Brian France may be a highly educated and intelligent person for all I know however he always comes across as the village idiot.

Brian France is responsible for taking a racing series and trying to implement rules that make it similar to stick and ball sports and it simply can't be done. For better or worse France wants parity like the NHL and NFL have where any given team can win on any given day but the dumb**** doesn't realize is that all the rules in the world won't make it happen. The NFL and NHL have salary caps that all but ensure parity without the aid of any rules.

I found the article interesting. It touched on a number of topics. I found the data at the end of the article uninteresting because I don't follow social media and data presented as a percentage is usually optimistic.

Yeah, I don't know how old you are

, but I think all the stats about social media would have there being big numbers, no matter what. Even 5,000 could seem like a big number, you know what I mean? And it's not like without Brian France you wouldn't have any NASCAR-related info on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube, because there's stuff like that for every big sport these days, right?

I noticed the article was published in January, here is one after the fact.

NASCAR calls Daytona qualifying ‘exciting,’ but will consider tweaks

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Most of NASCAR's top Sprint Cup drivers were upset Sunday over the qualifying format for the Daytona 500, calling it "chaos" and an "embarrassment."

NASCAR vice president Steve O'Donnell called those comments and criticism "exciting feedback."

By the way, what would you imagine them doing at the plate tracks to make the drivers enjoy qualifying again? Would you make every qualifying event at the plate tracks a 15-minute duel event? Just curious.

not me, I wasn't one of the fans that for some reason wanted to change it from the old way. I liked watching to see who had the fastest car one at a time. I swallowed the new chase, it has it's good and bad points, but this group thing on any track to me isn't qualifying, more like a stratego game. Plenty like it on the smaller tracks though, I can live with that. Nascar is putting the smaller teams in a pressure cooker at the R.P. tracks.

What do you consider to be some of the good points of the current chase format?

A 55% increase in social mentions could mean anything; they could have increased the number of terms they monitor by 55% including the name of every driver. And they probably don't know the context of the mentions (good, bad, or something else).

I watched the Daytona 500 qualifying show .................................... nuff said imo

Yeah, I would imagine social media figures for all sports have been booming for the last few years.
