Passes away at the age of 49.
Wow. Terrible news but his quality of life had to have been unbearable.
So young. RIP JD
I hope Hamlin can go out and win one this year in his memory.
So sad, gone way too soon.
Fly high, JD.
Damn shame. RIP JD.
Just really feel bad for the family and the suffering he went through.
Sad for him, eased some by the end of suffering. Sadder for the family even though they knew, still hard to accept.
I know JD is in a much better place free from the constraints of his illness. Still it is very sad for his friends and loved ones.
Tough deal for his family I'm sure. He was a young man with four kids of his own. I hate it for all of them. Sad indeed.
Sad indeed, prayers to the family.
Tremendously difficult for the family and the team, very sad. It's a shame for the sport too that he wasn't able to continue to lead the team into its next generation. RIP.
RIP JD. The man had an eye for talent, an eye for the future, and a great sense of family values and passion for motorsports. Great guy.
Very sad , thoughts to Joe Gibbs and the rest of the Gibbs family and the NASCAR community , parents are not suppose to out live their kids.
