Rockingham Speedway, which hosted NASCAR Sprint Cup races from 1965-2004, is back on the market.

Iron Horse Properties, LLC, stated on its Facebook page Thursday that the track and its property is for sale for $3,795,000.

Agent Mark Baysek told the Richmond County Daily Journal that the company negotiated with the property owner, BK Rock Holdings, LLC, and signed the deal this week to act as the real estate agent.

The newspaper reported that the track is valued at $6.85 million, according to Richmond County tax records.

Neat retirement community address . Might like that myself . Rockingham Speedway Park . Building 3 , Earnhardt Drive .

I wasn't much of a fan when North Wilkesboro closed, so the loss of Rockingham is perhaps the most poignant reminder to me of how far NASCAR has strayed from it's roots. Rockingham was an awesome track. So sad.

NASCAR talks a lot about putting the racing back in the drivers' hands. Tracks like The Rock certainly emphasized that.

Y'all ever been to Rockingham, track or town? Ain't nobody gonna put either one of those in that area.

Never been to Rockingham or Richmond , both were at the top of my bucket list . I think 2017 is a must for me to get to Richmond before they close it too.

Hurry ... before they jump buses in the main event.

Went to an ARCA race there, and pass through Rockingham any time I go to Charlotte. That place is like being in a third world country.

My hunting club is so close to the race track I can hear them racing the drag strip and actually used to be able to pick up the drivers and spotters on our 2 way radios. It's heaven on earth to a country boy like me and I hope it never changes.

I would rather build an exact replica outside a major city so it has a sustainable audience. Denver? OKC? Seattle?

That's so hard to duplicate though. A variety of elements led to Rockingham being the way it is. Hot summers, cold winters and the terrain in general. Every racetrack is different because of this.

I'll buy it. Raise the banking on the corners to 20° and 5° on the straights and modernize it. Plus I think it'd be cool if under the grandstands there were 6 stock cars representing all of generations of cars that have raced in the sport

You might consider moving it to Hawaii.

Don't forget all that wind-blown grit from the surrounding 'sand hills' terrain. That stuff great for teaching young bucks the finer points of tire management.

I'd love to see Rockingham back on the schedule, just not 492 laps. You could wrestle with a bucket of chicken, and the chicken won. I've never seen as many flying chicken bones as I did at Rockingham.

Yeah, Rockingham is more likely to be next North Wilkesboro. It'll just sit there and rot. There's so much land in Richmond County, NC that if someone wanted to develop something, they'd just build something on open land. There's no need to buy a race track that you would have to tear down.

Just recently got into racing this year, but my dad took me to a Winston Cup race at the Rock in 99. I didn't know the significance of getting to go to that race until I got into the sport. I'd love to see NASCAR drop a date somewhere and do a Darlington type of throwback theme here or at N Wilkesboro. It won't happen, but it's fun to think about.
