There was talk for a while that 'Dinger might land an Indy ride; he's capable of it.
HUH??I was just reading that Brian Vickers is pushing for the ride from Penske should Tony not accept.

I'd like to see Kyle Larson get it over any of those others.Should Stewart pass, drivers were using Twitter on Monday to inform Penske they wanted the seat. Among them were Chip Ganassi Racing development driver Kyle Larson; Conor Daly, who spent this year in Formula One support series GP3; and NASCAR driver Brian Vickers, who tried to put together an Indy 500 deal last May but was stymied by IndyCar's engine shortage.
"I'm serious about Indy. Would do it in a heartbeat, was not just tweeting to be funny," Vickers said Monday.

Miss Thang has to be at the TOP of any team owner's wish list of drivers wanting to do the double.
Forget Vickers, Stewart, Allmendinger and the rest. The Media World would be all over Danica running both the INDY 500 and the 600-miler in Charlotte. Any other drivers attempting the double would be an afterthought.
But, does the current schedule even allow any driver to race 500 miles in INDY and make it to Charlotte for the start of the Coke 600?
Funny you should ask.....But, does the current schedule even allow any driver to race 500 miles in INDY and make it to Charlotte for the start of the Coke 600?
In order for Stewart (or anyone else) to compete in both races, Indianapolis Motor Speedway must accelerate the start of the 500; allowing time to complete the race, take part in potential Victory Lane festivities and honor media obligations before hopping a private jet and flying to Charlotte to take the green flag in the Coca-Cola 600.
IMS officials have not commented officially on the possibility of a schedule change, but earlier this week, they tipped their hand by creating an online “petition” designed to convince the three-time Sprint Cup Series champion to take part in next May’s race.
ABC, which broadcasts the Indy 500, also seems amenable to the move. "ABC/ESPN would enthusiastically support the opportunity for driver(s) to participate in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600,” said ESPN vice president of programming and acquisitions Julie Sobieski.
IMS willing to adjust Indy 500 schedule if Tony Stewart wants in
Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials are willing to adjust the Indianapolis 500’s schedule if Tony Stewart -- or any other NASCAR high-profile driver -- is interested in participating in both Memorial Day weekend races.
IMS CEO Jeff Belskus said there are many details to work through, but he’d support a change in start time for the 500.
“It’s a conversation we’d be willing to have,” he said today. “We’re willing to adjust if (Charlotte and NASCAR) are willing to adjust.”
An ESPN vice president told the Associated Press on Monday that it would “enthusiastically support” an opportunity for drivers to compete in both races.
Let's see, May 2013 - Talladega, Darlington, and the All-Star waste of time. Vickers isn't scheduled for any of them. The only snag on the NASCAR half of the double is ..."I'm serious about Indy. Would do it in a heartbeat, was not just tweeting to be funny," Vickers said Monday.
Funny you should ask......

It just goes to show you that the power of this forum is tremendous. We don't give ourselves enough credit, with the exception of Fender that is.I really didn't think that he would make a snap decision based on my comment . Who knew?

I do give some of these guys WAY too much credit, especially the Toadies.
Credit? Where? I didn't get any! I would have went out on BLACK FRIDAY and got me a VIZIO 1080 LED for a sweet $700.
Im going on Strike!

Tony's response on this yesterday.....
"As much as I would like to do it, we just don't have the time to do it proper," Stewart said. "The IRL is so competitive now, you're not going to just show up like drivers used to do in the past and be competitive. These guys don't leave anything on the table there. You're not going to stroll into the Indy 500 with these guys who race every week and be as competitive as they are. It was a very humbling comment and offer that he made, for sure," said Stewart, booed by fans when he made the announcement. "I'm very humbled by the fact that he offered it to us. It's a great opportunity, but it's very hard when you're running three Cup teams right now and the obligations that we have making sure that we're doing the right things, we have a lot of people that depend on us. & It's kind of like being at Thanksgiving dinner. My plate is finally full. I don't know if I can add anymore to what I have right now." He left open the possibility of racing for Penske at some point. "I'm not going to do it this year, but there's nothing saying that down the road that I may not take him up on that same offer," Stewart said.
I'm sure Tony's decision had nothing to do with this initial test:
Fans booed him when he made the announcement ? Really ? I wouldn't call them fans.
Were they booing him or booing the decision? Two totally different things, IMO.
