RPM may not run past Martinsville

So we end up with -
Kahne running to Redbull
Menard coming off a pretty decent year goes to RCR next year
Sadler likely headed back to the Nationwide series
Allmaindeinger is screwed
Ambrose is screwed unless he finds a way to get B. Labonte out of the 47 car next year.

If Roush were smart, he'd yank David Ragan out and put Ambrose or Allmendinger in so they can warm that seat up for Trevor Bayne.

The sad part is there aren't any options in Nationwide either. Allgaier looks like he'll follow the trend of Nationwide regulars who beat Sprint Cup regulars and end up without a ride just like Stephen Leicht and Scott Wimmer.

I reall like Scott Wimmer but I think his boat sank for a different reason. :beerbang:

It's really sad that there are so many really good prospects out there that have such a slim chance of ever getting into the big leagues because the economy is tearing the sport apart.

so when the economy was flourishing those really good prospects made it to the big leagues? i don't think so. there may have been a few more but the fact is most really good prospects don't make it to the big leagues in any sport. there were only so many seats open then to be filled just as there are now. the economy is a factor in tearing the sport apart, if you believe that, but only a minor factor imo. nascar's biggest problem is management by nascar executives. to put it mildly (i reall am <g>) they don't have a clue about how to hang onto the fans they have, much less attract new ones. lookee there, a new idea, let's try it. okay boss, you got it.

Nope, only the best of the best made it to the big leagues. The driver was more than likely in his mid to late 20's with a proven track record. Not the 18 year old mini stock champ at the local track.

In a way, I agree with chromehorn about the economy.

To get in today, a driver almost has to bring built-in sponsorship to the team.
Sponsors also want bang for their bucks --- a newbie probably won't get the exposure that a sponsor wants.

Local hotshoes may have the skills, but lack connections to gather the dollars necessary to get in a good seat.

It's a vicious circle, not enough money for a good ride, but the skills to be a winner.

I agree the economy is playing a large part today. Just a thought but would Menard be where he is if his dad wasn't writing the check?
I'm sure we all have some driver at our local track that could be in cup today if the cards fell just right. Might even do a better job too.
All I question is the trend of bringing in 18-19 year olds to the top series.
