RR Fantasy NASCAR: Week 1 - Daytona

Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time to officially begin the 2017 Fantasy NASCAR Championship Season. Last week, 15 of our 2016 Polesitters came together and competed in the Clash where Joey2448 walked away victorious. Full results from the Clash are at the bottom of this post. This week, we put our focus towards the Duels and the first races for each series. Yes, we are competing in all 3 NASCAR Series. You do not have to play in all, but it is highly encouraged that you do so that we can have as competitive of a game as possible.

If you have not registered to play with us yet, there is still plenty of time to join! Just let me know your username, number, color scheme, and manufacture for your Fantasy race team. We are looking for a FULL season commitment.

The Duels are worth points this year. I'll repeat that for the people in the back. The DUELS are worth POINTS this year. All players should post predictions for BOTH Duel races. The Top-10 finishers of each Duel will receive up to 10 points. 10 points for the winner, 9 points for 2nd, all the way to 1 point for 10th.

This same process will work for each Stage of every race this season. The only difference being the winner of a Stage will also receive a playoff point that will be added to their point total when the Playoffs start, if they make the Playoffs. The winner of the race will receive 5 playoff points. At the end of the race, everyone will be given the points that their prediction scored, plus the same Top-10 bonus that is given at the end of each Stage.

We have implemented a "Grand Slam" of races in each series, where each Stage and race win is worth 1 extra playoff point. Daytona is the first of the 4 Grand Slam races for each series.

The deadline for predictions in every race is the green flag of that race. The ONLY exception is if the race gets pushed earlier than the scheduled start time by less than an hour and your prediction is still in before the scheduled start.

I am incredibly happy with the turn out we had for the Duels. Keep those predictions coming for the Truck and Xfinity races as well as the Daytona 500! It will all be on the same thread here.

This is a perfect opportunity to explain how ties are broken.

Ties in race results are broken by who picked the higher finishing driver to win the race. If they predicted the same driver to win, it will go by who they picked to finish 2nd, and so on until the tie is broken.

Ties in point standings will work a little differently than last year. Participation, winning, and consistency rules all. Here is the order of priority for breaking ties in points:

1. Least number of absences
