So we're officially getting segmented races in NASCAR and possibly a repair clock, both of which have been longstanding rules in short track and rally racing, respectively. So looking forward, what rules or features of other motorsports could you see or would like to see be introduced to NASCAR?

I'd like to see the push to pass feature at Daytona and Talladega.

What about an endurance style race that doesnt halt the racing for no reason?

I think I may be on to something here.

You mean it was fixed when it wasnt broken
Actually I lack the attention to watch a whole race now. Get distracted on Twitter, Facebook or YouTube. Interests shift. The racing in no longer compelling. Cars rarely ever break. I can go ride around the beltline and see the same thing. Championship never meant anything to me. That is for the teams/manufacturer.

I think they should install gearbox's from the Fast and the Furious. It would increase passing!

In the third segment, Delaware style restarts where the leader is alone in the front row, and the P2 car has lane choice in the second row. This is more fair to the leader, who earned the right to have a restart advantage.

Look, even Rick Mast tweeted this last night after the game. I think NASCAR is the one that's on to something lately.

OK, back on track here. Two things I've seen which could work. Borrowing from Aussie V8 supercars, no points awarded unless you finish the race. Could be used instead of or in addition to the repair clock to put pressure on the mechanics.

2nd, indycar position lights on the cars. It would really help those in the stands follow things, especially for things like pit stops. IMSA uses them too now.

I dig that. Don't they also have different colors to show when a car is on their pit-in/pit-out lap?

I think it turns green on pit road and then counts the seconds when stopped in the pit box, just like you see on the TV broadcast. It's a big piece of information you can't really get when sitting in the stands vs watching at home.

"Nascar is on to something" yeah right. It'll undergo another substantial change within 4 years when they realize again the racing wont be anymore entertaining by manufacturing drama.

Push to pass wouldn't work on fat cars like these.

They have them in DTM and it doesn't do much. Adds little to nothing.

I recall NASCAR talked about implementing these as part of the COT package. I don't know what became of the idea, but I've been disappointed nothing ever came of it. If IndyCars can find space to make them fit, there should be plenty of room on stock cars. Heck, stick big ones on the roof; with electronic scoring, roof numbers aren't needed for manual scorers any more.

Maybe somebody thought it took up too much space that could otherwise be occupied by Yet Another Official Sponsor Decal...

I don't know why you couldn't fit them on the rear passenger and driver side windows. They don't seem to be that big and it wouldn't take up sponsorship space there. Would modifying the NACA duct positions really kill ya?
